Zakintosh Posted June 11, 2014 Report Posted June 11, 2014 My STAX Sigma headphones have gone bad. Sound comes only in one ear. Is there anywhere I can send them for repairs?
n3rdling Posted June 11, 2014 Report Posted June 11, 2014 I doubt it. Where are you located? Are you able to DIY at all? Are you sure there's zero sound coming out of one of the drivers (as opposed to very low level sound)?
spritzer Posted June 11, 2014 Report Posted June 11, 2014 Any Sigma can be fixed or fitted with new drivers but not everybody is up for that.
Earspeakers Posted March 15, 2015 Report Posted March 15, 2015 Any Sigma can be fixed or fitted with new drivers but not everybody is up for that. Hi Spritz, I just ordered a normal bias Sigma off eBay with a defective driver. No problem with repairing, is the procedure to buy a Lambda and take it apart? Any special tips otherwise?
spritzer Posted March 15, 2015 Report Posted March 15, 2015 Yup and be warned, this is very fiddly. That's why I don't touch the Sigma's any more.

DefQon Posted March 16, 2015 Report Posted March 16, 2015 That quote will probably cost as much as the Sigma's itself.
eggil Posted March 16, 2015 Report Posted March 16, 2015 I may be crazy but I paid about 500.00 to the STAX repair center in England. They just changed my drivers to the 404.
DefQon Posted March 16, 2015 Report Posted March 16, 2015 I got a quote from the Australian Stax distributor 2 years ago when I had my Sigma Pro's that I wanted to convert to Sig/404's, it was $380 for a pair of matched 404 drivers.
Earspeakers Posted March 16, 2015 Report Posted March 16, 2015 Yes the repair was somewhat more than the headphones, but cheaper than taking a working Lambda and tearing it apart. It's fine, these are hard to find these days. To tell you the truth I'm not sure I'll even like them. I went to headphones to get away from from speakers after all. The sound stage bothers me not at all, in fact I like it because it sounds like I'm a musician playing in the group (I'm a lifelong classical musician). But, I've fallen hard for Stax, after having given up on decent audio reproduction for about 10 years. I have to hear what they sound like. Also have the 4070 coming in, and a 009 and a 007 for comparison Otherwise I'm not interested in farting around with 007-mk1, 404's or whatever else.
Earspeakers Posted April 2, 2015 Report Posted April 2, 2015 "Otherwise I'm not interested in farting around with 007-mk1, 404's or whatever else." Famous last words, I received a 007mk1 early version (carbon box) and have 404's. On the Siggy they're finished and on the way. Look beautiful, the repair shop offered to buy them from me
