postjack Posted September 7, 2014 Report Posted September 7, 2014 In the ceiling? Don't think I have seen that before. The current generation of new receivers are equipped with Dolby Atmos, a new sound technology that adds channels for ceiling speakers. 3.1 is still fine for me.

nopants Posted October 31, 2014 Report Posted October 31, 2014 Those also look nice but I still prefer the original black and tangerine. I kind of wish they hadn't opted for the gloss finish though

Same here. 3.1 gets it done. More speakers don't seem to make the movies any better.
Dusty Chalk Posted November 6, 2014 Report Posted November 6, 2014 Those also look nice but I still prefer the original black and tangerine. I kind of wish they hadn't opted for the gloss finish though But if you stare at the same spot on them for 99 seconds and then look at a white wall, that's what you see.
nopants Posted November 6, 2014 Report Posted November 6, 2014 Not if your lighting casts reflections everywhere from the white gloss finish. If they did cast nipple afterimages they should be marketing it to me as a real feature I bought parts for the CSX1 amplifier, hopefully there will be some synergy between these components. It didn't sound ideal but the VFET devices seem cool
butte Posted March 28, 2015 Report Posted March 28, 2015 Just to report back that I've bought a dac to complement my LS50, and it is Mytek DAC 192, and so far I'm loving it very much. Thanks for the advice on not to look at AudioGD product everybody. 2
butte Posted March 29, 2015 Report Posted March 29, 2015 But but but the Mytek is bright!!!! Hi Torpedo, Maybe my ears are not as well trained as most of you here, but I'm enjoying the Mytek very much now, maybe my preference is towards a brighter sound. Also maybe my Marantz amplifier taming down the brightness a bit, but that is totally my assumption.
Torpedo Posted March 29, 2015 Report Posted March 29, 2015 Nah, I was just kidding you Some people elsewhere think that the DSD 192 is a bright DAC. I own one and I think it's pretty OK, specially considering its price. 1
luvdunhill Posted March 29, 2015 Report Posted March 29, 2015 The official bright gear disposal service is only a PM away. K thx bye.
Dusty Chalk Posted March 29, 2015 Report Posted March 29, 2015 The Mytek is (by all reports that I care about) a very nice DAC. Isn't it a studio standard? (wanders off, googles) First off, I still hate that style of website. Can't fucking search the page until you get it to load. But...oh my, they just added a DSD option to their top-tier ADC...
spritzer Posted March 29, 2015 Report Posted March 29, 2015 It's only the Changstar fucktards who think it is bright so nobody with any sense. 2
butte Posted March 29, 2015 Report Posted March 29, 2015 I was looking at Schiit Bifrost initially as per proposed, but dealer in my country keep on playing with the price, saying that the currency exchange between USD and my country is getting worst, so he can't really give any actual price before everything settle down, how stupid. That is when I started looking for other option and decided on Mytek based on reviews even when I can't try it before purchasing, but it seems my gamble paid off.
Dusty Chalk Posted August 10, 2015 Report Posted August 10, 2015 KEF LS50 on MassDrop for US$1,150 -- good deal?BTW, did you notice it's white+gold/blue+black dress all over again, except it's black+tangerine/white+blue?
RudeWolf Posted August 10, 2015 Report Posted August 10, 2015 I remember them going for 1.2k in Agon about a year ago when all the rabid reviews popped up. I got mine for 900€ back when our Monopoly money was still worth something.I'd say it's a swell price, but nothing to get crazy about.Just measured mine with SB2000 sub crossed at 80Hz.
nopants Posted August 11, 2015 Report Posted August 11, 2015 I'll cough up mine for 1k if you're interested, I never use them. black tangerine 1
Dusty Chalk Posted August 11, 2015 Report Posted August 11, 2015 black tangerineThank you, but rescinding my interest in both these and the Focals. I have too many speakers, and I still don't have my Gallos, so going to consolidate, clean house, then obtain those fucking Gallos.
