Tyll Hertsens
Yeah, I had it here for a week before sending it off to Rob. It's a solid amp/DAC at a bargain price. Worth $2000 pretty easily, me thinks.
shellylh
Tyll, Do you think it is worth it just to use as a DAC with the DSHA-1? I'm currently using the Pico DAC + DSHA-1 in the office.

purk
Tyll, Do you think it is worth it just to use as a DAC with the DSHA-1? I'm currently using the Pico DAC + DSHA-1 in the office. I hope you don't mind me answering this. For the same price, I would get a used NAD M51 to go with your DSHA-1 and don't look back. The HA-1 is a bargain for the price but it won't blow you over as a dedicated DAC or headamp. As a combo, it is an excellent value but it won't measure up to your DSHA-1 + good DAC. So I suggest you get a better DAC and stick with your DSHA-1 for a much better results. BTW, I've auditioned the Oppo HA-1 in person before and the built quality on this is just superb! Tyll Hertsens
Sorry Shelly, I don't know the gear well enough to answer your question.
tkam
Most of my experience is using the HA-1 as a dac and headamp but I think it's dac section is excellent, also remember you can connect an ipad/iphone to it directly and it also supports bluetooth. purk
The problem is that I don't have the room for a full size DAC in my office. Well, the HA-1 won't be that desk friendly either. Its footprint maybe smaller than the M51, but it will take up more space than something like the Matrix X-Sabre DAC.
shellylh
I'm not interested in the Matrix X-Saber Dac. I measured and do have room for the Oppo.

skullguise
The line/pre outs are opamp based, and the headphone is class A. I read this review where he said he used the S/E headphone out with a Y-adapter to drive an amp, preferring that to the line/pre outs in back.
