Eric5676 Posted May 12, 2014 Report Posted May 12, 2014 http://www.forbes.com/sites/geoffreymorrison/2014/05/11/oppo-ha-1-preview If the typical Oppo penchant for high quality bang for the buck holds, this could be a contender.
grawk Posted May 12, 2014 Report Posted May 12, 2014 they really need to pay you for the street teaming.
Eric5676 Posted May 12, 2014 Author Report Posted May 12, 2014 they really need to pay you for the street teaming. LOL! I'll be posting about other brands soon enough.
morphsci Posted May 12, 2014 Report Posted May 12, 2014 (edited) Subscribed (first audio product I have actually been interested in for some time). Edited May 12, 2014 by morphsci
Riotvan Posted May 12, 2014 Report Posted May 12, 2014 If this came with a parametric eq i would sell all my shit for it. Something to be said for simplyfying... and my rack is too stuffed as it is.
arnaud Posted May 13, 2014 Report Posted May 13, 2014 If not a p.e.q, it at least comes with a nice 12 band or so analyzer so you know where the problem is I have absolutely no need for another desktop amp/dac but playing with the HA-1 at least Fujiya Avic headphone festival made me want one actually. It just feels smart from the layout, U.I., in/out options. I don't often see gear that transpires intelligence from the designer(s), the HA-1 feels like a very very well thought little bugger. More impressions / pictures on the other site under the festival impression's thread (should be hard to miss even if you seldom visit).
Aura Posted May 14, 2014 Report Posted May 14, 2014 Okay so this thing is hitting like 4-5 different audio needs that I've had. Interest. 1
postjack Posted May 14, 2014 Report Posted May 14, 2014 Reading the specs, it basically is a Benchmark DAC2 for $800 less. In five years all audiophile electronics will be Oppo. 1
Tyll Hertsens Posted May 14, 2014 Report Posted May 14, 2014 Guess I'll have to get one and play around with it a bit. 4
postjack Posted May 14, 2014 Report Posted May 14, 2014 Guess I'll have to get one and play around with it a bit. Also looking forward to your PM-1 review.
Tyll Hertsens Posted May 14, 2014 Report Posted May 14, 2014 Should be end of next week. Doing the V-Moda XS next then the Oppo. 2
Mr.Sneis Posted May 14, 2014 Report Posted May 14, 2014 The PM-1 not so interested, but this looks like it could be solid. ESS Dac chip uuurgh. Reminds me a bit of the Lynx Hilo which I liked but didn't hang onto.
MexicanDragon Posted May 14, 2014 Report Posted May 14, 2014 I hate new things, but I really liked what the PM-1s were throwing down (for the most part.) I'd take those over any LCD-y (why did they have to use "x"?) I hate all the LCD nonsense though. Looking forward to some thoughts from here. **BRENT**
Riotvan Posted May 15, 2014 Report Posted May 15, 2014 If not a p.e.q, it at least comes with a nice 12 band or so analyzer so you know where the problem is Let's hope they can add it with a firmware update.... The support for their bluray players is top notch, these are the same guys right? I seem to recall there was a division in china doing phones and then one in the US that does bluray players and whatnot.
cutestory Posted May 15, 2014 Report Posted May 15, 2014 I'm a bit more interested than I should be in this.

I seem to recall there was a division in china doing phones and then one in the US that does bluray players and whatnot. Yep, same guys. Their phones are also pretty stellar. This brand has not made a lot of missteps,
arnaud Posted May 15, 2014 Report Posted May 15, 2014 (edited) From what I read, the pm1 were designed in the US, the chief designer comes from ribbon speakers design. I am not sure I'd be too keen the the dac/amp in isolation (it may be a bit too ruthless to my taste), but it actually paired nicely with the very laid back PM-1. Edited May 15, 2014 by arnaud
postjack Posted May 15, 2014 Report Posted May 15, 2014 Concerning the PM-1, I'd like to know if it can fit a big head. My noggin is enormous and that eliminates a lot of headphones for me. Pretty much every type of "one size fits all" type of headphone, except for the AT wing design. 1
MexicanDragon Posted May 15, 2014 Report Posted May 15, 2014 I wear a 7 7/8 hat. After a haircut. Santa is the only person I know with a larger head. PM-1 felt great on my head. **BRENT** 1
MexicanDragon Posted May 15, 2014 Report Posted May 15, 2014 @Posty, you sound like you need some Grados. Sweet, sweet Grados. **BRENT**
