Aura Posted July 12, 2014 Report Posted July 12, 2014 (edited) Particularly rough line today. 2.5 hours in line before placing our order. Going with 2x Foie Gras, cheese fries, and a game of the week: Pernod-Infused Pheasant Sausage with Rhubarb Mustard, Goat Cheese and Truffled Radishes I'm really going to miss these damn things. agile_one Posted July 13, 2014 Report Posted July 13, 2014 World class sausage is it's own reward, Bryan. Fuck all of us, you got the prize. So sorry this will ll end too soon.
Iron_Dreamer Posted July 13, 2014 Report Posted July 13, 2014 Wow that line looked brutal! I'm still hoping to make it back, even if wistfully!
Aura Posted August 16, 2014 Report Posted August 16, 2014 Part of our crew is meeting at Hot Doug's today for a HC send-off. With only 48 days left before close, this is very likely the last time we will be there as a group. I personally intend to get there at least once more in September but this is my last trip with the security blanket of knowing I can go again. 1
Aura Posted August 16, 2014 Report Posted August 16, 2014 Fucking rough line today - 4 hrs 15 min and not inside yet. Easily the longest I've ever stood in line for food. The company has been fantastic though. 1
Aura Posted August 16, 2014 Report Posted August 16, 2014 (edited) Yep, it's a staple of the menu. The one on the far left. Edited August 16, 2014 by Aura
Aura Posted August 16, 2014 Report Posted August 16, 2014 I would but Allison and I are flying to SoCal Wednesday and not getting back until Sunday afternoon.
morphsci Posted August 17, 2014 Report Posted August 17, 2014 Yep, rabbit, foie gras, and uber garlic dogs. Woot!
Voltron Posted August 17, 2014 Report Posted August 17, 2014 Sorry to miss the last call(s) at Hot Doug's. Glad you'all had a good time.
Absorbine_Sr Posted August 23, 2014 Report Posted August 23, 2014 Back in line, this time with Jacob. We got here earlier so a much shorter line today.

Iron_Dreamer Posted August 25, 2014 Report Posted August 25, 2014 Jealous, Jealous, Jealous. But I have been to Russian River 4 times this summer. So that helps dampen the blow 3

Wmcmanus Posted October 3, 2014 Report Posted October 3, 2014 Hot dog douches. This is the world we live in. It doesn't end with beer.
Voltron Posted October 3, 2014 Report Posted October 3, 2014 That guy seemed like a douche, but he's not out of line, so to speak. I'd love to be there for the last dog Doug serves. RIP to the Mecca of Encased Meats!
Wmcmanus Posted October 3, 2014 Report Posted October 3, 2014 Ya, it's a great place. No doubt. Just think a lot of those people in the video are there just to say they were there, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Reminded me of the hipster beer crowd in Tampa for some reason, and I'm not so sure I would have enjoyed waiting in line for 24 hours with them.
ironbut Posted October 3, 2014 Report Posted October 3, 2014 Very sad end of era stuff! But, who knows what those guys might spawn next?
Wmcmanus Posted October 3, 2014 Report Posted October 3, 2014 But, who knows what those guys might spawn next? That would be my guess. Seems to me that eventually, Hot Doug's will probably reemerge in one way or another. Maybe with a different name, certainly at a different (and probably much larger) location, and perhaps not for several years, but he's got a good thing going there and he's no fool. At the same time, I can totally understand that he wants to get out of it and just have time to do whatever, whenever, and for however long he wants to. From the articles that were written when the closing decision was first announced, it just seemed like he was burned out with it and had no real plans of what might be next (and was quite happy about that). Like I say, don't blame him. Maybe next time (if there is a next time), he'll just be an investor/passive owner.
Aura Posted October 3, 2014 Report Posted October 3, 2014 I will truly, truly miss the Foie Gras dog. Wanted to get back one more time but just too many goddamn people. I will reflect fondly on walking straight in with zero wait in line on a Tuesday during February.
