ironbut Posted March 13, 2014 Report Posted March 13, 2014 (edited) I'm not sure how long South X Southwest has been doing this live stream, but they seem to have it down. And I'm sure sponsorship has a lot to do with which stages/bands get onto the stream but there's not much that I enjoy as much as listening to bands who I've never heard before. At this level, I think they all have something to say. Check it out. If you hate who's playing right now, check back in an hour or so (between bands they run tape from their archives). http://sxsw.com/live Edited March 13, 2014 by ironbut
Dusty Chalk Posted March 14, 2014 Report Posted March 14, 2014 Thanks for the link! Looks like they've only been doing this for a day or two, and I agree, very professional job. Tune in on Wednesday, March 12 at 2pm CDT we will be broadcasting 24 hours a day through the end of the event.
Dusty Chalk Posted March 14, 2014 Report Posted March 14, 2014 Yeah, they've been my favourite of what I've seen so far (other than some individual tracks). Is it looping now? They just mentioned Cloak Ox was coming on, I thought they played yesterday?
ironbut Posted March 14, 2014 Author Report Posted March 14, 2014 Yeah, they seem to loop to earlier bands or even earlier years. Seems like the first "live" thing today is DeGrasse Tyson right now. I wish that the entire schedule button showed the "entire schedule". I sure hope that St Vincent will be streamed!
ironbut Posted March 15, 2014 Author Report Posted March 15, 2014 Just found some pics of St Vincent who played Wed at the NPR showcase at Stubbs. Bummer! Maybe they'll play again or NPR music will have full videos of the shows they sponsored. http://www.heyreverb.com/blog/2014/03/13/sxsw-2014-photos-st-vincent-eagulls-kelis-perfect-pussy/86750/ St Vincent pics start on pg 6
ironbut Posted March 15, 2014 Author Report Posted March 15, 2014 Looks like a pretty full streaming schedule. 21 bands in all.
postjack Posted March 15, 2014 Report Posted March 15, 2014 I just discovered the Apple TV "iTunes Festival" feature. I've been using chromecast or hooking my laptop up to the TV to watch festival streams, but for SXSW you can watch shows right from the Apple TV. Looks absolutely crystal clear, very impressive. Watched part of Zedd's set last night, was a lot of fun. Will probably be seeing him at 'Roo this summer unless there is a conflict (which is likely, I like Zedd but he's not super high up on my must see list).
Grahame Posted March 15, 2014 Report Posted March 15, 2014 Likewise, London Grammar from the 11th https://www.itunesfestival.com/
ironbut Posted March 16, 2014 Author Report Posted March 16, 2014 If you haven't listened to any, be sure and check out NPR Musics Saturday, end of festival report (there are reports for each day). It's worth it just to hear Bob Boilen's fatigue induced take on the meaning of life. http://www.npr.org/blogs/allsongs/2014/03/16/289593298/npr-music-at-sxsw-2014-saturday
