morphsci Posted March 12, 2014 Report Posted March 12, 2014 that was by far the best season of television I've ever watched. Awesome last episode. Way intense. Agree with both comments above. Good stuff! Quote
bozebuttons Posted March 13, 2014 Report Posted March 13, 2014 I'm glad to find out that there'll be a season 2. Without woody & mathew ,they won't be back. Quote
postjack Posted March 13, 2014 Report Posted March 13, 2014 Without woody & mathew ,they won't be back. i'm kind of hoping true detective becomes a platform for actors that you didn't think were amazing before, but really have the chops to make it happen. I also would like to see at least one female lead in the next season. 1 Quote

postjack Posted March 13, 2014 Report Posted March 13, 2014 Re: Finale Did Cohle have a hallucination before the (action)? I didnt get that part. it was either a hallucination or a true vision of the evil in Cascosa. up to you to decide. Quote
TMoney Posted March 13, 2014 Report Posted March 13, 2014 I didn't love the last two episodes as much as the first six, but wow, what a pleasant surprise of a show. Really looking forward to see who they get and what they do with a second season. Quote
grawk Posted March 13, 2014 Report Posted March 13, 2014 I didn't love the last two episodes as much as the first six that is incomprehensible to me. Quote
TMoney Posted March 13, 2014 Report Posted March 13, 2014 that is incomprehensible to me. I really missed the "interview" dynamic once the timelines got unified. It was one of my favorite parts about the show. I also really missed Michelle's character. Quote
raffy Posted March 13, 2014 Report Posted March 13, 2014 that is incomprehensible to me. Same here. In fact, there were a few middle episodes I didn't enjoy as much as the last one. Quote
morphsci Posted March 13, 2014 Report Posted March 13, 2014 (edited) that is incomprehensible to me. Same here. As whole episodes the last two were easily the best IMO. The final episode by itself is the best cinema I have seen in recent memory, again IMO. Edited March 13, 2014 by morphsci Quote
ironbut Posted March 13, 2014 Report Posted March 13, 2014 Just an awesome viewing experience! I'm really hoping that this is the future of adult TV. I can't help but think that this show had some influence on the best actor Oscar? Quote

I can't help but think that this show had some influence on the best actor Oscar? It might just be general love for the McConnaisance, but his role in DBC was really unforgettable. The role of a lifetime. Quote
grawk Posted March 13, 2014 Report Posted March 13, 2014 I really liked DBC but I thought the best part of it was he got into the right shape for true detective. Quote
Pars Posted March 15, 2014 Author Report Posted March 15, 2014 I had saved/put off watching the season finale until last night. It did not disappoint! It will be interesting to see what they might do for Season 2, even though it hasn't been announced by HBO yet. Given the critical acclaim and viewer numbers, I would be surprised if it is not picked up for another season. Matthew McConaughey has already said he would not return, but since it is an anthology, that is no surprise. Quote
blessingx Posted April 22, 2014 Report Posted April 22, 2014 Sick-couch/True Detective marathon this weekend. Cuddled up with blankets and an iPad in the middle of the night as it should be watched. Episode 1-7 was entertaining as hell and I loved the original take on the cop-buddy opposing dynamic, but eight was a major disappointment and felt like they belittled the other 7 with that climax. And that double ending, tacked on sidewalk speech was the weakest five minutes of the whole season. That said, overall fun and interested where they will go in season two (I thought that still wasn't official)?Silicon Valley just got picked up for season two though. Quote
postjack Posted April 22, 2014 Report Posted April 22, 2014 (edited) Silicon Valley is hilarious so far. "Snack dick" lol Edited April 22, 2014 by postjack Quote
