Pars Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 Just watched the 1st 2 episodes of this and it seems pretty good so far. Stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as a pair of Louisiana detectives trying to solve a serial killer case. Quote
postjack Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 i'm behind, but I watched the premiere a couple days ago. Outstanding so far. Very noir, and can be considered a "period" piece if you consider 1995 long enough ago to be a "period". Very excited to see where this goes. Quote
Voltron Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 Also loving it and MM is the better actor so far, surprisingly. Woody seems too wooden. Quote
Mister X Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 Still have that scene with Alexandra Daddario in my head. Quote
postjack Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 Also loving it and MM is the better actor so far, surprisingly. Woody seems too wooden.Have you seen Dallas Buyers Club? MM gave the best performance of the year by far. Quote
Voltron Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 Haven't seen it yet Posty, but I have heard good things. Quote
raffy Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 Watched the first episode and I liked it a lot. Let me see if the 2nd episode is now available On Demand. Quote
ironbut Posted January 23, 2014 Report Posted January 23, 2014 I watched episode 1 last night and so far I love it. I was extremely sorry to see HBO's series Treme end a couple of weeks ago but this one seems like a winner! Quote
jpelg Posted January 28, 2014 Report Posted January 28, 2014 Watched episode #3 tonight. It just keeps getting better. Quote
CD44hi Posted January 28, 2014 Report Posted January 28, 2014 I like the series as a whole. I am not sure I am down with Woody's performance. Seems forced/fake, specially the rage/anger. what they showed of what's coming seems very promising. Quote
postjack Posted January 28, 2014 Report Posted January 28, 2014 Yeah I think shit is about to get real. In two weeks. Stupid Superbowl Quote
jp11801 Posted February 9, 2014 Report Posted February 9, 2014 Just powered through episodes 1-3 and love it! Quote
morphsci Posted February 9, 2014 Report Posted February 9, 2014 Just powered through episodes 1-3 and love it! This. The opening theme is awesome but I have always liked T Bone Burnett. Also loving it and MM is the better actor so far, surprisingly. Woody seems too wooden. I always thought Matthew McConaughey was a better actor than most reviewers gave him credit for. Quote
TMoney Posted February 10, 2014 Report Posted February 10, 2014 On the bandwagon as well. Seems like a great show so far. Quote
postjack Posted February 10, 2014 Report Posted February 10, 2014 Well holy shit. I wasn't breathing for the last 20 minutes of that episode. Brilliantly shot. 1 Quote
Seed Lady Posted February 10, 2014 Report Posted February 10, 2014 (edited) We want Bosch ! All Harry Bosch - Michael Connelley fans.... look at the free pilots on Amazon, and vote to have the cop show Bosch made into a series. Carl used to work with Michael ( we a bit biased). We both thought the pilot was good.http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=nav_sap_aiv?ie=UTF8&docId=1001155581 Edited February 10, 2014 by Seed Lady Quote
Mister X Posted February 11, 2014 Report Posted February 11, 2014 Well holy shit. I wasn't breathing for the last 20 minutes of that episode. Brilliantly shot. Yep. That was quite an episode. Quote
swt61 Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 This has really captured my attention. Too bad there will only be 8 episodes. Quote
TMoney Posted February 24, 2014 Report Posted February 24, 2014 With only two episodes left to go they are going to have to be pretty explosive. I'm really looking forward to it. I have to say, I'm really impressed with Michelle Monaghan's acting. In so many of her roles she is there to stand around and look pretty. Here she more than holds her own against the two male leads. cutestory Posted February 24, 2014 Report Posted February 24, 2014 Jebus. Anyone not watching this really should be watching this. Quote
ironbut Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 Just wondering if anybody else here knew someone who read True Detective magazine way back when. Growing up in the south, I did know a couple of friend's dad's who did. Never did really pick one up myself and I would guess that , given the lurid cover art, my buddies mom's wouldn't have allowed it. It seemed like most of those dad's had some kind of chip on their shoulders. One in particular was a short, nasty piece of work that was employed at the state Pen. At the dinner table he did a lot of bragging about kicking lots of ass and using the 12 gage pump that sat in the corner of their kitchen. I have a feeling he was probably something like a cook or someone who never saw any action. Not to say that the series is anything like the contents of the magazine (although, since I never read one, I can't say). It does seem to be inspired by the feelings that the era and subculture evokes in me. Can't wait to see where it ends up! Quote
swt61 Posted March 10, 2014 Report Posted March 10, 2014 I'm glad to find out that there'll be a season 2. Quote
