jimmyb233
This shit happens to me all the time. I keep getting notices from customs about some packages that I don't have a clue about. Sorry to hear that Brigir. I hope you find a solution someday. I want to accidentally buy a Black Diamond. Well, accidentally click on the link above, then accidentally fill out the order form, accidentally put in your credit card info, and voila you have officially ordered one by accident. I've only done it the one time, but Spritzer is quite experienced at it. He may be able to explain the finer points in more detail. Sherwood
Technically, all amps are limited runs. Doug's are somewhat more limited.

K3cT
Is this going to have a livelier sound than the L-2?
recstar24
The BD proto I had for awhile appeared to have more bass and just a ballsier sound. Not sure if that fits your definition of livelier

F1GTR
What would be a fair current market value for a DSHA-1 and/or L-2? I tried researching this but I can't seem to find their original MSRP although I did see some mention of a sale Doug had at one point. grawk
the fair market value is whatever price the buyer and seller agree on.
F1GTR
Ok I guess that was poorly worded. What price have these two been selling for on the used market in the last two years?
n_maher
The #'s are so low (production wise) that there is unlikely to be a relevant data set. They are both exceptional products worth a premium price, new or used. Use that as your guide and invest appropriately.
F1GTR
Thanks for the input. That's what I figured. I could only find one for sale thread over on the other forum and that was from 2013.
jimmyb233
I hope these help: http://www.likelyanswers.com/15368186/For-Sale-%09%09Ecp-Dsha-1-Amp Notice the crossed out prices on the latter thread are the original MSRP's. F1GTR
Those definitely help quite a bit Jimmy. Thank you.
jimmyb233
Since the DSHA-1 and L-2 are very limited and in demand, I think you can expect to pay close to original MSRP or higher if you can find them. If they are on the same level as my Black Diamond, I would say they are worth it. Then again, you might just try the Black Diamond. It is one of the best amps I have heard regardless of price. Certain amps have their niche, but I have to say the Black Diamond is the most universal amp I have been able to listen to. It sounds great with my HD800's, HE-500's, HE-560's, and the AKG K812's. I also own RS1's, PS1000's, and T1's, but I don't like those cans as well. To people who prefer the sound sigs of the latter cans, it might be a good match for them as well. I just don't really care for them, so I haven't tried them with the Black Diamond.
F1GTR
Yeah it would be fantastic if there more impressions regarding the Black Diamond in general. I've done quite a bit of research and can only find a handful of posts that could be considered as such. Even the ECP thread over yonder is devoid of any real solid impressions on the BD, let alone ones comparing it with the DSHA-1 and L-2. At this point I'm definitely open to the BD. I've had one gentleman contact me considering selling his L-2 but nothing has been finalized yet. I'm also eyeballing the Ragnarok assuming it actually gets released for sale to the public anytime soon. I thought I had read somewhere that Doug was down to his last BD unit for sale, however I read that almost a month ago and his ordering page is still up and the BD can be added to the shopping cart. Just FYI whatever I buy I'll be pairing with the HD800, hence why I've been so interested in the L-2 as of late. dsavitsk
I'd say that while the L-2 works very well with the HD800s, the other amps do, too. They are all a little different of course, but they also all utilize things that I like (transformers, no feedback, short tightly controlled signal current loops) so they are not that different. HD800s are my headphones of choice these days, and I have happily used all of these amps. There is still one BD. It is out on a short term loan to someone who wanted to photograph it. So while it is being sold "as new", it comes with a 10% discount. And it can be returned if it does not meet your expectations, though it does have to come back in like new condition. I am also working on a few new things, at least one or two of which should see the light of day. However, while the BD was designed to be a less expensive amp than the DSHA-1/L-2, the new ones are not. They use considerably more expensive parts and are much more labor intensive to assemble. The hope is to have a prototype or two ready for the NYC area meet in mid November and amps ready to sell in early 2015. We'll see.
