Dusty Chalk Posted January 19, 2018 Report Posted January 19, 2018 "I’d buy a used 1 series taylor, or a used composite martin first. Next down the list would be a used Seagull, then at the bottom, a Yamaha. All of these can come with electronics." He also gave me the advice priorly -- which I ignored, and learned the hard way was good advice -- always buy an acoustic in person, always try it first. You seem to be already doing that. PS I was kidding about the Martin and the Daisy Rock in the prior post. I blame alcohol.

If you can get a Taylor or a Martin for the 300$ you stated on the first post it'd be my choice too, but there's no way you can find such thing over here. Nevermind, I've just seen at another thread that it's a Taylor. I wish you enjoy it Edited January 20, 2018 by Torpedo
naamanf Posted January 20, 2018 Report Posted January 20, 2018 Yeah I ended up spending double what I planned on. It seemed to fit and sound better than other guitars in the same range. Now if I can just build up some callouses. Ouch! 2
VPI Posted January 20, 2018 Author Report Posted January 20, 2018 Gorgeous guitar Naaman. I think Taylor’s are considered as easy on the fingers as they come as I know the Martins really tear up my fingers.

Torpedo Posted February 20, 2018 Report Posted February 20, 2018 It'd be very sad, but I don't think they'll disappear, they'll fire people and close factories to build just as many guitars as they can really sell. We'll see. 1

Grahame Posted May 1, 2018 Report Posted May 1, 2018 (edited) Meanwhile ... Gibson files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection. "As NPR has noted in the past, filing for Chapter 11 protection does not mean that a company is doomed to fail; instead, "it's a way for companies that can't pay their bills to not die." The petition, filed on Tuesday, notes that the company currently has up to $500 million in debt ... https://www.npr.org/sections/therecord/2018/05/01/607373593/gibson-guitars-files-for-bankruptcy-protection http://variety.com/2018/biz/news/gibson-iconic-guitar-company-files-for-chapter-11-bankruptcy-protection-1202793510/ https://www.twice.com/industry/gibson-files-for-bankruptcy-protection Edited May 1, 2018 by Grahame 1
Dusty Chalk Posted May 2, 2018 Report Posted May 2, 2018 Looks like Joa Bonamassa might come to save the day. ...which is good, because I don't have a real 335 yet. 1
Torpedo Posted May 2, 2018 Report Posted May 2, 2018 They'd need to get back to build guitars as they did in the 60s and 70s to get my money for a new one I'm rather sure the guitar manufacturing brand won't disappear, they just need to sell all the other brands, from the pianos to the speakers and a few buildings. to recover viability.
jp11801 Posted May 5, 2018 Report Posted May 5, 2018 oddly builds in the 70s and 80s were largely maligned - my friend had a 74 clear finish LP that was just so so but by contrast my friends 68 335 was dynamite sounding 1
johnwmclean Posted September 12, 2018 Report Posted September 12, 2018 This is my Jim Redgate double top classical guitar, I received it on Monday after waiting over a year to be built. This replaced my Dan Kellaway lattice braced guitar which I had for 20 years. It’s an incredible guitar, it’s loud with a big dynamic palette, and a beautiful tone with amazing even balance throughout. 7 1
Dusty Chalk Posted September 23, 2018 Report Posted September 23, 2018 I hate kids. ...but I really dig that tune.
Torpedo Posted April 15, 2019 Report Posted April 15, 2019 Which level are you? Humbly going to bed 1 1
Dusty Chalk Posted April 30, 2019 Report Posted April 30, 2019 Dusty want Ibanez Coral Pink guitar, but the nomenclature is CRP. Yes, there’s also a purple one. 2
