n_maher Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 Nice looking headband but the rest of it doesn't do much for me. And at least Bushmills right. Bushmilk would have made for an especially fun limited edition headphone.
justin Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 i have a feeling this is the first of many company branded Grados 1
roadtonowhere08 Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 (edited) Is this a closed headphone? I am not seeing any grills. Aftermarket cups? Based in the price, I am thinking SR60i drivers and aftermarket cups and permission to use the name for a price. Nah, probably done in-house based on the finish. It's all just kind of odd. Oh and Justin, you have a hunch or heard something from the grapevine? Edited December 5, 2013 by roadtonowhere08
justin Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 just a hunch. Grado has not cashed in on the celebrity headphone bandwagon yet. this could be the way. financially maybe their best move. they haven't done anything innovative as far as sound quality in how many decades? so they'll sell the 'celebrity' headphones of the hipsters.
roadtonowhere08 Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 They could try, but Irish Whiskey is an interesting start. They would need to get a big music name to get attention in the headphone market I would think.
roadtonowhere08 Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 (edited) Aye, you be wearin' them Grados again? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-64CaD8GXw Edited December 5, 2013 by roadtonowhere08
acidbasement Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 "Grado. Drink till it sounds good." 2
justin Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 They could try, but Irish Whiskey is an interesting start. They would need to get a big music name to get attention in the headphone market I would think. i'm not saying it will be intentional, the irish whiskey is an odd choice, i'd assume there was some kind of existing personal or business relationship that allowed that to happen. but, given how big headphones are now, it wouldn't surprise me if Grado starts getting a lot of requests and doesn't turn them down. like how you could get a Weber grill with all sorts of different logos on the lid, specifically alcohol makers
Dusty Chalk Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 I'm following a guitar luthier on Facebook who recently noticed that the pieces he cuts out of rectangles for his guitars leave something that's the perfect size for a rifle stock. Yet another serendipitous collaboration. Or maybe they just noticed that there's a lot of whiskey talk on head-case.
ktm Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 The real question- how many will have Bushmills spelled wrong? 4
MexicanDragon Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 Bushmills is having a giveaway contest on FB. FWIW, one of the early Alicia Keys songs had her walking through NYC wearing a sub-325i set of Grados. I couldn't tell which back in the day. **BRENT**
Wmcmanus Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 Maybe if it was Johnnie Walker, to which I'm partial.

Though I normally love Grado's look, these things... wow.
dcpoor Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 Yeah, any of the existing wood Grado's look much more aesthetically appealing than these.
blessingx Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 Any guess how many prototypes the designers went through over those six months before perfecting?
n3rdling Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 Are the cups intended to look like casks?
HeadphoneAddict Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 You guys beat me to it. I came here to post what I saw online: http://gizmodo.com/grado-labs-made-gorgeous-cans-out-of-irish-whiskey-bar-1476399898 I just want to smell and lick them...
Torpedo Posted December 5, 2013 Report Posted December 5, 2013 just a hunch. Grado has not cashed in on the celebrity headphone bandwagon yet. this could be the way. financially maybe their best move. they haven't done anything innovative as far as sound quality in how many decades? so they'll sell the 'celebrity' headphones of the hipsters. They made that GS1000 with the Dolce & Gabbana name on it IMO the question here is knowing if that closed thing sounds any good. Covering the grills of any Grado isn't good for the sound. New driver? Effective damping scheme? I like the headband, the cups are awful.
CarlSeibert Posted December 9, 2013 Report Posted December 9, 2013 Didn't Linn just do something with whiskey?
grawk Posted December 9, 2013 Report Posted December 9, 2013 thank Greg for all the whiskey headphone tie ins. glen rothes at can jam la was a hit.
Torpedo Posted December 9, 2013 Report Posted December 9, 2013 Didn't Linn just do something with whiskey? Yep, a limited edition Sondek LP12
