postjack Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 So I just bought two albums that I first heard about in the "What Are You Listen To" per jpak's posts: and It was actually watching the video on the amazon page that made me realize I absolutely had to own Mirrored. Check it out, its gnarly as hell: [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Mirrored-Battles/dp/B000OLHGBQ]http://www.amazon.com/Mirrored-Battles/dp/B000OLHGBQ[/ame]
riceboy Posted October 13, 2007 Report Posted October 13, 2007 I want to get some Ella Fitzgerald.. Any suggestions for an Ella newbie? I know it's pricy, but, "The Complete Ella Fitzgerald Song Books" is a great set. I always enjoy putting that on. Also her CDs with Louis B Armstrong are great. I'm a fan, but my wife absolutely loves her. I haven't heard a singer IMHO that can skat so naturally and well on the fly like her. Good luck
Absorbine_Sr Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 Just ordered this: from http://berkshirerecordoutlet.com/ - 14 disks for $42! Amazon wants $82. The reviews seem to be excellent so we'll see.

postjack Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 i used to be part of Amazon Prime, i found out that i really don't buy enough from them in a given year to make it worth while. Fair enough. I make lots of purchases from amazon.
hungrych Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 Why buy the complete and the album? It's all on the complete box.
Dusty Chalk Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 The Amoeba haul: Notwist, Only in America Peter Gabriel, Shaking the Tree (SACD) Real Tuesday Weld, London Book of the Dead Clay People, Waking the Dead Praga Khan, Skyscraper Vladislav Delay, Whistleblower Tied + Tickled Trio, Aelita, EA1 EA2, & EA1 EA2 RMX Flanger, Nuclear Jazz Various Artists, Imaginary Friends, The Unfinished, Eyelicker Unkle, War Stories Delia Gonzalez|Gavin Russom, Relevee Biosphere, Dropsonde Bodycode, The Conservation of Electric Charge Anthony Rother, Super Space Model Manual, Lost Days, Open Skies and Streaming Tides Lithops, Queries, Uni Um It Black Strobe, Burn Your Own Church, A Remix Selection Twine, Reference Oval, Dok, Systemisch, and Szenariodisk Yes, I know, I blew a wad. I got carried away, and I've been having DT's from Tower, so it's the first time I've been in a good music store in a while. They have vinyl, too.
Salt Peanuts Posted November 3, 2007 Report Posted November 3, 2007 Ben Folds - Songs for Goldfish Ben Folds - Songs for Silverman (vinyl) Ben Folds - Super D Hiromi - Another Mind Hiromi - Time Control Alison Krauss - Forget About It Alison Krauss - So Long, So Wrong Elvis Costello - My Aim Is True Elvis Costello - This Year's Model Elvis Costello - Armed Forces Elvis Costello - Get Happy!! Elvis Costello - Almost Blue Elvis Costello - Trust Elvis Costello - Imperial Bedroom Elvis Costello - Punch The Clock Elvis Costello - Goodbye Cruel World Elvis Costello - Blood & Chocolate Elvis Costello - King of America Elvis Costello - Rock & Roll Music Elvis Costello - The Best of Elvis Costello: The First 10 Years All this for less than $90. I should have them in a week or two, and then I'll actually have decent copies of Costello (all I have now are crappy mp3 rips).
jinp6301 Posted November 3, 2007 Report Posted November 3, 2007 damn thats a lot of shit. I might have to ask you to rip me one of those EC albums
Salt Peanuts Posted November 3, 2007 Report Posted November 3, 2007 Forgot to add Tori Amos - Under the Pink the Rhino reissues? Nope, they're all new Hip-O reissues. I've browsed through SH forum and the general consensus was they used the same masters. Also, I would have had to pay a whole lot more for them if I bought Rhino reissues. As it is, with the exception of Ben Folds stuff, I basically paid for only shipping & handling for the CDs. damn thats a lot of shit. I might have to ask you to rip me one of those EC albums
riceboy Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 John Lennon anthology box collection John Lennon Rock n Roll I am Sam soundtrack
Thelonious Monk Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 i recently splurged on a few dozen metal releases that i've had pirated for a long time but hesitated on buying -- because i live in a catholic household: they can and will perform an exorcism on me.
DigiPete Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 Ella and Louis - remaster remaster - extra tracks
Duggeh Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 Waterboys Book Of Lightening CD. ?5. Rare Mike Oldfield Amarok Promo CD, ?26 Mike Oldfield - V, never even heard of this Oldfield release before, couldn't find any info. Thus I had to have it. ?17
Dusty Chalk Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 It's not a Mike Oldfield release, per se -- it's a various artists compilation from Virgin Records, on which Mike Oldfield appears. I ran into the same thing (never heard of it, discovered it, had to have it immediately). IIRC, there's some good stuff on there -- I think Tangerine Dream and Klaus Shulze...nope, found it -- just Tangerine Dream, no Klaus Schulze, but there's some Henry Cow, Hatfield and the North, and other good proggy stuff, if you're into that. I have no idea what that Tom Newman collaboration is.
Duggeh Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 Thanks muchly dude, a little miffed that its not a purebred Oldfieldian effort , but the contents sound like they should certainly please me anyway.
