lostonetr Posted August 10, 2008 Report Posted August 10, 2008 Debating on purchasing a CD (NQMM - difficult kids), want to get the autographed one if possible. (only like..+$3 usd). But I'm not sure if there was an autographed set out for sell. There are some for other artists, but no point committing to buying a CD just for the signing.
Dusty Chalk Posted August 10, 2008 Report Posted August 10, 2008 Mmmm...Lara... My attitude on autographed CD's -- unless I'm buying it from the band, I don't see the point. And that's still not as worthwhile as getting the autograph myself.
Akathisia Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 BT "This Binary Universe" Awesome album for any fan of epic soundtrack electronic music. Comes with an awesome 5.1 channel DVD with animations for the whole album. Apparently there is going to be a "This Binary Universe II", and it is on my short list of most anticipated albums. wiki link that does a good job giving this album credit where due
guzziguy Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 A local music store is going out of business. Even though the stock has been pretty well picked over, I was able to get the following (some are used) at 20% off: Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin Neil Young Live at Massey Hall 1971 Neil Young Lucky Thirteen Procol Harum The Essential Collection Ringo Starr Vertical Man I'll rip them this afternoon and then actually listen to them.
Dusty Chalk Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 So they had nothing good, eh?Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin(ahem)
guzziguy Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 So they had nothing good, eh? They probably had a lot of stuff that would appeal to your young, unsophisticated tastes.

aardvark baguette Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 When you're old and your eyes are dim, There ain't no old Shep gonna happen again, We'll still go walking down country lanes, I'll sing the same old songs, Hear me call your name.
Voltron Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 it was $10 off retail at musicdirect over the weekend, couldn't resist. bought a couple other cheap close out cds, too. I should buy that dammit. I just received this MoFi title from Acoustic Sounds, in their new mini-LP style packaging:
Voltron Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 Yeah, their jewel boxes are nice, but I like the cardboard better. Smaller, thinner and LP'er.
deepak Posted August 12, 2008 Author Report Posted August 12, 2008 I really dislike Mofi's mini-LP packagig. Mainly because it's difficult to avoid shelf wear on the cardboard, and it's not replacable like a jewel case. The Art Pepper disc in question is nice since it's individually numbered in gold lettering. Space isn't really an issue for me, so I prefer jewel or even better super jewel cases. The old DCC/MFSL lift lock cases are still my favorite (smooth top).
Akathisia Posted August 12, 2008 Report Posted August 12, 2008 i like super jewel cases. Are you referring to the cases that SACDs come in? If so I agree, nice heft and they feel much more quality.
DigiPete Posted August 12, 2008 Report Posted August 12, 2008 Should be a treat to listen to STEELY DAN/AJA 30TH ANNIV. NUMBERED LTD EDITION 180g LP All-Analog Remastering by Kevin Gray at AcousTech Mastering! Authorized by Walter Becker, Donald Fagen and Grammy Award Winning Engineer Elliot Scheiner! "The new Cisco reissue is vastly superior to both the original pressing (ABC AA 1006) and to Mobile Fidelity's 1/2 speed mastered reissue (Mobile Fidelity MFSL 1-0333)... Putting it more bluntly, this is a stupendous production. If it doesn't sound good on your system now, it awaits being revealed for how good it really is when your system is elevated to match the occasion." - Michael Fremer, musicangle.com

aardvark baguette Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 Just re-ordered the Blue Note SACDs from Acoustic Sounds. They canceled the last order, I think because it was set up to ship all at once. Hopefully I'll actually get them this time, whenever they finally get released.
Salt Peanuts Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 Just re-ordered the Blue Note SACDs from Acoustic Sounds. If I'm not mistaken, the first of the SACDs have been pushed back until sometime in September.
aardvark baguette Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 Sounds right. It didnt mention it on Acoustic Sounds (that I saw anyway) but I remember Posty saying that, iirc.
Akathisia Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 you fail at adjectives. Sorry. The discernable heft of an SACD jewel case in comparison to the standard redbook CD exudes a certain sense of quality that makes my nether regions tingle with delight.
