deepak Posted June 21, 2008 Author Report Posted June 21, 2008 Porcupine Tree - Lightbulb Sun CD/DVD-A
postjack Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 ghost is my favorite phish album. It doesn't have my favorite songs or performances on it, but as a whole its their best studio effort. Lawn Boy and Junta and PoN might have better songs, but the performances are blech, like the first GD album they are all messy.
Salt Peanuts Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 there used to be a bunch of places around here. it was nice. I need to find more used shops around here. It was so much easier when I was in school, decade or so back, but I wasn't buying as much music back then.
deepak Posted June 22, 2008 Author Report Posted June 22, 2008 Picked up a few more goodies. Porcupine Tree - In Absentia (DVD-A) Porcupine Tree - Stupid Dream (CD/DVD-A) Iron Maiden - Number of the Beast Castle Limited 2 disc
deepak Posted June 22, 2008 Author Report Posted June 22, 2008 do you have a dvd-a player, deepak? I'm going to be getting one soon.
deepak Posted June 22, 2008 Author Report Posted June 22, 2008 ah, nice. what are you going to get? I'm going to keep it under wraps until I do get one. They don't come up too often and I'd rather not be competing with anyone else
Fitz Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 DVD-A? I still don't even have a decent CD player. \
deepak Posted June 22, 2008 Author Report Posted June 22, 2008 DVD-A? I still don't even have a decent CD player. Do you believe a good CDP can improve sound quality? If yes, then get to it
Fitz Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 I definitely believe it will improve sound quality if at a minimum it no longer skipped on a bunch of my CDs, even when they're pristine.
deepak Posted June 22, 2008 Author Report Posted June 22, 2008 I definitely believe it will improve sound quality if at a minimum it no longer skipped on a bunch of my CDs, even when they're pristine. Too bad you didn't win that CDP in the HFi give away
Fitz Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 Too bad you didn't win that CDP in the HFi give away Well, it's not like I can't afford one, I just don't wanna have to actually buy a new one, y'know?
Fitz Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 what is your budget, Fitz? I wasn't necessarily looking for one, but I'd like to not spend more than $200-$300 should I get a new one. I'm not keen on the alternative route of cheap DVD player + DAC, considering my negative experiences with the cheapies.
deepak Posted June 22, 2008 Author Report Posted June 22, 2008 niiice. Buying music online is too easy Ah well at least this stuff is only going to be worth more, not less.
deepak Posted June 22, 2008 Author Report Posted June 22, 2008 yup, i think it's a good investment. maybe you'll be lucky, once the dollar goes completely down the toilet, and some nice european or asian will give you some good money for it I think I'll hang on to this one (and the rest of their DCCs I'll inevitably buy). I was reminded to get The Doors stuff when some clowns on XM Radio were trashing The Doors but thought Amy Winehouse was good
aardvark baguette Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 Buying music online is too easy heh, amen to that
Fitz Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 Buying music online is too easy Meh, I find it easier to get carried away when in an actual store. Online I can keep it in the shopping cart and rethink it later, or compare prices somewhere else. In the store I have the discs in my hand right then, so close to owning them, and much less time to think it over, even though they're likely much more expensive than anywhere online.
