Voltron Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 Thanks! Now I need to get out of here so I can listen to them. Only a few hours to go. It looks like I will be out there in a few weeks. Get one of these from Todd before you come out, and you can take a shit-load of vinyl home with you. Aomeba alone has hundreds of used records I would buy at any given moment.

postjack Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 First vinyl I've bought since the new tt. I re-discovered a local record shop that just epanded their vinyl collection. Sky Blue Sky sounds great since Wilco records on analog equipment. Methinks I spy an MFSL DSOTM, which will be cool. I own that same Belew record, its bizarre and fun. I have the 45RPM In Rainbows which sounds ridiculous, but I can't speak for the 33 1/3. I'd like your impressions on The Reminder, I've considered snagging the LP off eBay.

boomana Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 Amoeba was pretty cool. I wish I'd could have spent more time looking around without all those people and that wimpy Vampire Weekend band playing.
tyrion Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 All good things. Actually, it is closest to Magnolia's nicer sister spot Alembic. Is that the place with the bourbon and scotch? Vampire Weekend cancelled at Langerado to perform on SNL.
postjack Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 Vampire Weekend cancelled at Langerado to perform on SNL. SNL was the first I'd heard them, and I was really unimpressed. It sounded like ska. To their credit, they were fresh faced young men.

Apielet Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 New mastersounds- "This is What We Do" Black Crowes- " Warpaint"- Really good, better then expected Jamming w/ Edward- sick used LP score, Ry Cooder w/ some stones, stickly jamming.
thrice Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 The little indie store by my busstop is leaving but they are having a sale, so I picked up: Kathleen Edwards: Failer Jim White: Transnormal Skiperoo
tyrion Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 New mastersounds- "This is What We Do" Love these guys. I bought the flac version of their show from Wakurusa last year off Livedownloads.com.
Apielet Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 Tyrion, i remember you from Head-fi years ago. You had a steal yer face for an avatar. As for what I was doing when I was 13, I was collecting Dead tapes and going to my 1st show @ the Rosemont....'89

Thelonious Monk Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 I should have purchased this earlier. My favorite ECM release. Even better than Urban Bushmen.
Voltron Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 45 RPM Analogue Productions/Acoustic Sounds Re-issues
tyrion Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 Sky Blue Sky sounds great since Wilco records on analog equipment. Sky Blue Sky sounds excellent. I bought a used copy of The Reminder and it needs a good cleaning. There was a new copy in the store. I may go back and pick it up. I think it was $16. The DSOTM MFSL came in while I was there. I picked it up for $30. The vinyl is perfect but the cover is not, which doesn't bother me in the least.
deepak Posted March 14, 2008 Author Report Posted March 14, 2008 DSotM mofi should sound great. Even on my humble tt setup the 30th anniv sounds fantastic.
aardvark baguette Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 I have the mofi DSOTM. Its good, but I heard a custom version of money that blows it out of the water. I think it was from the original master tapes, but I dont remember.
deepak Posted March 14, 2008 Author Report Posted March 14, 2008 The mofi CD of DSotM isn't that great. I have an original and it's fun to listen to for the massive bass eq they added. The most highly sought after CD versions are very early Japanese pressings, that sell for $400-600. Even then not that great compared to the vinyl.

zippy2001 Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 I am currently listening to DSOTM on vinyl and it sounds fabulous. The only time DSOTM sounded better was on SACD in surround in studio 1 of the Capitol Studios.

boomana Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 Let's hope so. If necessary, I will create multiple accounts and hire Jahn's posting team in order to stop that epidemic if it ever comes to pass.
