velomane
RIP Peter Schickele aka P.D.Q. Bach After Looney Tunes, he was my next most significant childhood introduction to classical music. Rest easy, Peter.

TMoney
RIP Charles Osgood. Host of CBS Sunday mornings and voice of the Osgood file on CBS Radio. My parents used to have the local CBS affiliate on the radio all the time in both their cars. Charles' voice is as comforting as a warm blanket. I must have heard him on air hundres of times. https://www.cnn.com/2024/01/23/us/charles-osgood-death/index.html

Craig Sawyers
RIP Melanie, far too early at 76. It must have been sudden because she had just signed a record deal.
skullguise
Karen and I saw her in the mid-to-late 90's, along with James Taylor. Such a lovely person she was, and she still had "it" IMO!

skullguise
Just read about this, bummed me out quite a bit.... RIP to Brian Lumley, probably my favorite horror writer. https://locusmag.com/2024/01/brian-lumley-1937-2024/ His Necroscope series was a super-creative view on the source of vampires (and the source of my username!), and led me to several of his other (Fantasy & Horror mostly) series, as well as to F. Paul Wilson, one of my favorite all-time authors. Edited January 30 by skullguise

Voltron
RIP Apollo. Liked his role in the Mandolorian but didn't know he also directed some of those episodes and various other TV shows. 76 seems too young these days, especially given that I'm over 60!

He was from here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horden He seems to have learnt a lot from HP Lovecraft's style, including tales about Cthulu. Still 86 is not too shabby an innings. Knuckledragger
RIP Toby Keith, dead at 62 after battle with stomach cancer. I have mixed feelings about his catalog ("Red Solo Cup" is in the running for worst country song ever; "Boot In Your Ass" was the anthem of America going in exactly the wrong direction post-9/11) but his contributions to country music in the 90s are undeniable. This was list a guy on reddit put together: Whiskey Girl Country Comes To Town I wanna Talk ABout me You Shouldn't kiss me like this Stays in Mexico How do you like me now I'm just talkin about tonight Wish I didn't Know now American Soldier As good as I once was Courtesy of the red white and blue Should've been a cowboy Does that blue moon ever shine on you He ain't worth missing Dream Walkin A little too late beer for my horses I love this bar Made in America You ain't much fun Who's That Man I recognize a surprising number of those and I wasn't exactly a big of contemporary country in the 1990s. In any case, 62 is entirely too young. F cancer. 1 1

Voltron
RIP Mojo Nixon, even though he wanted to Destroy All Lawyers. Can't decide which is worse, dying at 66 or dying on the Outlaw Country Cruise. https://www.nbcnews.com/pop-culture/pop-culture-news/mojo-nixon-elvis-everywhere-singer-dies-66-country-music-cruise-rcna137886
velomane
Yup, RIP to Mojo. I saw him with Skid Roper at a bar in 1987. Man, what a crazy show. Chaotic, mad, and wildly entertaining. Of course, the tab I dropped before going in may have influenced my perception of what was going on.
