blessingx Posted October 9, 2014 Report Posted October 9, 2014 RIP Ronnie and sorry for your loss Todd. Great role in my favorite comedy of the last decade. I'll hunt down The Hebrew Hammer too. A toast to both of you. Quote
Wmcmanus Posted October 9, 2014 Author Report Posted October 9, 2014 Condolences, Todd.  I, too, remember him in that role. Quote
skullguise Posted October 9, 2014 Report Posted October 9, 2014 (edited) Thanks all....the odd/interesting part is that he wasn't conversational at all in Hebrew..... Â I also remember a bunch of years back, Howard Stern had these two guys on who claimed they had a bit of JFK's flesh (from his assassination day) preserved in a bottle. Â I remember thinking that one sounded like my uncle, and sure enough it was him; they had pranked Stern.... Â EDIT: found the video clip for anyone that cares to watch all or part of it, and also found out as a result that Howard Stern WAS in on it from the beginning......I had actually never heard the whole story; knew it was a prank obviously, but never knew it was arranged with Stern ahead of time. agile_one Posted October 12, 2014 Report Posted October 12, 2014 RIP Uncle Ronnie, and condolences for your family's loss, Todd. Just saw your post re: Uncle Ronnie, Todd.  I join Al and everybody else here in saying, sorry for your loss, but, more importantly, celebrating your famous uncle's life.  What a treat he must have been at family gatherings.  Mazel tov to Uncle Ronnie and all his heirs... 1 Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted October 21, 2014 Report Posted October 21, 2014 Raphael Ravenscroft,  Saxophonist: Gerry Rafferty (City to City, esp. "Baker Street" ) Vangelis (Blade Runner's "Love Theme") PInk Floyd (The Final Cut) Mike Oldfield America Chris Rea  Let's put it this way, I'd be surprised if you didn't know at least two songs of his work.  AMG link Quote
skullguise Posted October 21, 2014 Report Posted October 21, 2014 ^^^ Yup, indeed, know several songs. Â Quite prolific for someone I hadn't heard of. Â RIP..... Quote
Grahame Posted October 21, 2014 Report Posted October 21, 2014 Indeed, RIP "Raf" http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/music/music-news/11176124/Baker-Street-saxophonist-Raphael-Ravenscroft-dies.html  Surprised you didn't mention that Solo on Baker Street .  Allegedly the tone is due to them recording in a Toilet Cubicle in Chipping Norton. Not  a phrase you can use everyday. Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted October 21, 2014 Report Posted October 21, 2014 Was it Baker Street? Â I thought it was RIght Down the Line, which is why I mentioned that one. Â Fixed. Â EDIT: Â Doh! Quote

ironbut Posted October 25, 2014 Report Posted October 25, 2014 RIP Jack! Â My first (big act) rock concert was the very same Cream farewell tour as that video. (Chastain Park, Atlanta 1968) In fact, their very first song was White Room! Â I have "Songs for a Tailor" that I'll play today. Quote
