Torpedo Posted May 19, 2020 Report Posted May 19, 2020 RIP Moon Martin. He died the 11th I knew it yesterday. I listened a lot to his Shots from a Cold Nightmare in my teens. 5
Wmcmanus Posted May 22, 2020 Author Report Posted May 22, 2020 RIP, Jerry Sloan, 78, who apparently had Parkinson's and failing health for a number of years. Legendary defensive minded guard for the Chicago Bulls who went on to have a successful NBA coaching career with the Utah Jazz. By all accounts, a good man. 3

Voltron Posted May 25, 2020 Report Posted May 25, 2020 (edited) RIP Jimmy Cobb, last surviving member of the Kind of Blue session. We saw him play a few times, including a Kind of Blue anniversary show a few years ago. He was still drumming pretty strong then, even in his 80s. I also met him after an SFJAZZ show in 2011, and he was a gracious man. I hope they get the band back together on the other side. https://www.npr.org/2020/05/25/845814061/jimmy-cobb-the-pulse-of-kind-of-blue-dies-at-91 Edited May 25, 2020 by Voltron 1 8
Dusty Chalk Posted May 25, 2020 Report Posted May 25, 2020 Yeah, a friend of mine posted on Facebook that the whole band is reunited now. I didn’t get it right away.

Craig Sawyers Posted May 28, 2020 Report Posted May 28, 2020 I'm very sad to say that Bob Weightman, the world's oldest man, died yesterday two months after his 112th birthday after a short battle with cancer. Peacefully in his sleep. RIP Bob. An astonishingly long life well lived. 2

Knuckledragger Posted June 4, 2020 Report Posted June 4, 2020 Now this is an odd one. David Dees, absolutely batshit insane conspiracy theorist and Photoshop artist died at 62. Dude was off his trolley by the standards of conspiracy theorists. He was imbalanced compared to the guy shouting on a street corner. He made Ted Kaczynski and Ben Garrison look like rational actors: https://www.ddees.com/ The art of Dees is so insane that it represents Poe's Law in full. ` Here's the thing: Dees' art actually was art. The dude had a great deal of technical skill and a distinctive style. His works are like a rabbit hole of carefully crafted insanity. You look too long and you can feel your own sanity wearing away. 2 1
