RIP someone or another

In the UK we have stringent laws regarding firearms, the only non-controlled firearms are those obtained illegally. The number of firearms covered by a government certificate is currently 615,627, and the number of shotguns 1,340,452. These have to be in a controlled, locked and regularly audited cabinet of defined construction. Although nothing prevents someone with a firearm certificate going nuts and going on a rampage. Fortunately very rare. Legislation was tightened after the Dunblane massacre https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunblane_massacre . The only other two were the Hungerford Massacre https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hungerford_massacre , and the Cumbria Shootings https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cumbria_shootings .

Mercifully that is the sum total of nutters with guns going on a shooting rampage.

But there are no restrictions regarding knives. Even a kitchen knife is a lethal weapon. And knives are the weapon of choice in gang warfare, and many teenagers, usually from deprived areas go tooled up with knives when they go out at night (or even to school).

That one hits close to home. ☹️ Greg Kihn was a fixture in the Bay Area club scene and then Rock Kihn Roll came out and MTV played Jeopardy on rotation and he was a brief national celebrity. I mean, when Weird Al parodies your song, you know you've made it!

RIP to a Bay Area legend.

I am not sure how I missed this one, but RIP Peter Higgs (April 8th) @ 94

I was watching some programs on gravity and particle physics, as I do, and they mentioned it.  I guess I was distracted by the Eclipse and OJ at the time.

A pillar in the fundamental understanding of our universe and the standard model.

If he now knows the structure of the universe, I wish there was a way for him to tell us.

RIP two students and two teachers at Apalachee High School in Georgia, 4 senseless deaths attributable to gun violence.

I am still pro 2A, as I do not blame the gun.

But Jeezy Peezy, why are school shootings a thing?  I was just giving Jordan Klepper (The Daily Show) a fact-check/hard time about his recent piece questioning right wing nut jobs about gun violence.  It almost feels ... set up. Choreographed, even.

I'm going to stand against the 2A community and say, yes, there should be a law against teenagers and children being able to handle guns without adult supervision.  Hormones are real.  It's the same reason there's an age limit to driving a car.
