blessingx Posted March 31, 2021 Report Posted March 31, 2021 G. Gordon Liddy, Mastermind Behind Watergate Burglary, Dies at 90 This is the obit he deserves. Born George Gordon Battle Liddy in New Jersey in 1930, he is said to have been a frail boy who was inspired by the rousing radio speeches of Adolf Hitler that residents in his German American neighbourhood were listening to at the time. "If an entire nation could be changed, lifted out of weakness to extraordinary strength, so could one person," he wrote in his autobiography Will, recalling how he roasted and ate a rat at the age of 11 in order to overcome his fear of rodents. Some of the extreme ideas he, and colleague Howard Hunt, a former CIA officer, came up with - from plotting to kill Nixon critics to kidnapping anti-war protesters - never got the go-ahead, but their plan to bug the Democratic National Committee offices did. Torpedo Posted April 30, 2021 Report Posted April 30, 2021 It's beyond my understanding why, but it's true he was popular in Spain by the time he participated in that show. RIP.

TMoney Posted May 4, 2021 Report Posted May 4, 2021 I got some terribly sad news last night from one of my sisters that a close family friend lost her baby in week 40 of her pregnancy. It would have been her and her husband's second child. I can't even imagine how devastated they must be. It is very, very sad. 17

Not particularly into the music but a great legacy nonetheless. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/2021/05/14/arts/music/pervis-staples-dead.amp.html Actor Norman Lloyd at 106! I think of him from St. Elsewhere but did not know the depth or the incredible duration of his 70+ year Hollywood career or his amazing list of colleagues and associates. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/2021/05/11/movies/norman-lloyd-dead.amp.html And don't forget Witchiepoo! Craig Sawyers Posted May 24, 2021 Report Posted May 24, 2021 RIP the 21 who died of hypothermia while competing in a 100km (60 miles) mountain marathon in China. 172 went missing and after a massive mountain rescue effort the majority were found and got off the hill. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-china-57216601 In the UK, a route like that has to have marshals at intervals, and you are required to carry weatherproofs, a route map and a compass. 3
