Thank you Mr Magowan. 76 is too young for an otherwise healthy and good-natured soul. Fuck fucking cancer. Good man. May he rest in peace. Florida baseball is a joke. I think they're all just spoiled by Spring Training. Nobody goes to Rays or Marlins games. It's really pathetic. The Rays sell out on opening day every year with pretend fans who go for the atmosphere. Then they have about 5,000 people in the seats the next day, with official attendance usually 13,000 or so with all of the empty corporate seats that they give to sponsors. After that, the only time there is a decent crowd is when the Yankees or Red Sox are in town and bring their own fans along with the old geezers who have transplanted themselves into the area. 1
skullguise Posted January 29, 2019 Report Posted January 29, 2019 RIP Peter Magowan. Didn't even know of him, but big respect to someone who fights to keep a team in a local market, especially if that market can easily support the team. 1
Voltron Posted February 8, 2019 Report Posted February 8, 2019 Another baseball great is gone. Frank Robinson was MVP in both leagues, was the first African American manager in the MLB, Giants manager in a tough/sad period, and is in the Hall of Fame obviously. Fuck bone cancer twice. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.sfchronicle.com/giants/amp/Frank-Robinson-SF-Giants-manager-and-baseball-13598394.php 1 3

Hopstretch Posted February 9, 2019 Report Posted February 9, 2019 Maybe popularly underrated but surely not critically? It's a masterpiece. It's hard to overstate the impact that Finney had in the UK in the early years of his career. "Saturday Night and Sunday Morning" is pretty dated now but was a big marker of cultural shift in Britain from the austerity of the 50s to the swinging 60s. He was damn handsome, too. 3
morphsci Posted February 9, 2019 Report Posted February 9, 2019 He was absolutely perfect as Hercule Poirot in the best screen adaptation of Murder on the Orient Express. A truly great actor. 2

Voltron Posted February 26, 2019 Report Posted February 26, 2019 (edited) Switched from listening to Devo to Talk Talk. I played the shit out of their first two albums when they came out, and much later listened to Colour of Spring as an audiophile classic. RIP Mr Hollis Edited February 26, 2019 by Voltron
Dusty Chalk Posted February 26, 2019 Report Posted February 26, 2019 Oh, no! I still listen to all 5 of their albums, plus his solo album. I even got the special Spirit of Talk Talk book and... Time to work on that cover of The Party’s Over that I was always going to do.
Pars Posted February 26, 2019 Report Posted February 26, 2019 ^ thisI’ve never really listened to Talk Talk much, might have to change that...Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
