RIP Ed Lee, the mayor of San Francisco. Died last night of a heart attack at 65 while he was out shopping for groceries.

He was a civil rights lawyer before he became a career civil servant. Not everyone loved all his policies, but I think damn near the entire Bay Area thought Ed was a good guy.

Very sad day.

Shocked to hear it this morning.

RIP Mayor Lee. He backed into the mayor's office when Gavin Newsom became Lt Governor, and didn't even want to run for the office when his appointment was ending. I didn't think much of Smilin' Ed at the time because he seemed like a lightweightullivan. He turned me around by his service and commitment to the City. He was also a vocal member of my daughter's C40 Cities organization that supports cities in combating climate change by increasing sustainability. He will be missed.

RIP Pat DiNizio of The Smithereens. Way too young at 62. Always liked their stuff, might have to hunt some of it down.

My maternal grandmother died today, 2 months after her 100th birthday.  She was a simple woman, who had a tendency to make complications for the rest of the family.  Her death was not unexpected, but it does mark the last of her generation (at least in my family) passing.

But as I do not know the lady in question, I may just come across as crass and insensitive.
