guzziguy Posted December 6, 2017 Report Posted December 6, 2017 Johnny Hallyday was so big in France when I lived there in the mid-eighties. RIP Johnny. Quote
TMoney Posted December 12, 2017 Report Posted December 12, 2017 RIP Ed Lee, the mayor of San Francisco. Died last night of a heart attack at 65 while he was out shopping for groceries. He was a civil rights lawyer before he became a career civil servant. Not everyone loved all his policies, but I think damn near the entire Bay Area thought Ed was a good guy. Very sad day. 1 Quote
ironbut Posted December 12, 2017 Report Posted December 12, 2017 RIP Ed Lee. Shocked to hear it this morning. Quote
Voltron Posted December 12, 2017 Report Posted December 12, 2017 RIP Mayor Lee. He backed into the mayor's office when Gavin Newsom became Lt Governor, and didn't even want to run for the office when his appointment was ending. I didn't think much of Smilin' Ed at the time because he seemed like a lightweightullivan. He turned me around by his service and commitment to the City. He was also a vocal member of my daughter's C40 Cities organization that supports cities in combating climate change by increasing sustainability. He will be missed. 1 Quote
Pars Posted December 13, 2017 Report Posted December 13, 2017 RIP Pat DiNizio of The Smithereens. Way too young at 62. Always liked their stuff, might have to hunt some of it down.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 1 Quote

Knuckledragger Posted December 18, 2017 Report Posted December 18, 2017 My maternal grandmother died today, 2 months after her 100th birthday. She was a simple woman, who had a tendency to make complications for the rest of the family. Her death was not unexpected, but it does mark the last of her generation (at least in my family) passing. 6 Quote
Hopstretch Posted December 18, 2017 Report Posted December 18, 2017 Sorry Knucks. That is a long life! Quote
Grahame Posted December 18, 2017 Report Posted December 18, 2017 Condolences, Knucks. The idiomatic platitude that is usually wheeled out in these circumstances is , "She had a good innings". But as I do not know the lady in question, I may just come across as crass and insensitive. Sorry for your loss. Quote
skullguise Posted December 19, 2017 Report Posted December 19, 2017 Sorry, Dan. It's very tough when the last of a generation passes, something gets lost in the family sometimes. RIP, and raising a glass to a long life. Quote
