Aura Posted August 30, 2016 Report Posted August 30, 2016 RIP Gene. A simple memory, but when I was 8 or 9 my sister and I put on Willy Wonka while helping my dad unload Christmas decorations from the shed. It was pretty early to do so, before Thanksgiving even, but still cold and dreary outside. So every time I brought a load into the house, I sat down for 5 minutes to check in on the movie... and I remember feeling so utterly comfortable, warm, and safe. And I think about that every time I've seen that movie since. So thanks to Gene for playing a part in that. Also Blazing Saddles is the funniest film I have ever seen. Another favorite in my family. 7
Wmcmanus Posted September 2, 2016 Author Report Posted September 2, 2016 (edited) John Polito, actor, dead at 65. http://www.nydailynews.com/amp/entertainment/movies/jon-polito-roles-coen-brother-films-dead-65-article-1.2775628?client=safari RIP, Da Fino, or should I say Brother Seamus? You know, he was a Dick, a Private Detective? He's the 4th Big Lebowski actor that I know of who has died within the past year or two. There was also the well known pornographer Jackie Treehorn (Ben Gazzara), The Big Lebowski himself (David Huddleston), and of course Brandt (Phillip Seymour Hoffman).  Edited September 2, 2016 by Wmcmanus
ironbut Posted September 2, 2016 Report Posted September 2, 2016 RIP John. Loved his portrayal of Albert Finny's rival boss in Miller's Crossing. One of my all time favorite mob movies! 4
skullguise Posted September 9, 2016 Report Posted September 9, 2016 RIP Prince Buster, Ska music pioneer..... https://www.theguardian.com/music/2016/sep/08/prince-buster-obituary-ska-musica-jamiaca
blessingx Posted September 10, 2016 Report Posted September 10, 2016 Mr. Norbert Schemansky. You sound like you were the man. "What Muhammad Ali and Joe Louis are to boxing, what John Grimek and Arnold Schwarzenegger mean to bodybuilding, and what Gordie Howe and Wayne Gretzky represent in hockey, Norbert Schemansky is to Olympic weight lifting." http://mobile.nytimes.com/2016/09/10/sports/norbert-schemansky-dead.html  3
Craig Sawyers Posted September 12, 2016 Report Posted September 12, 2016 Seems like I'm just catching up. Gene Wilder - jeeze. I guess that is the problem with film - the younger self is recorded for all time, as the actor gets older. That must be one of the hardest things, to see films of yourself as a young person when you are old.  So sad he went from Alzheimers.  And so many great movies - Blazing Saddles particularly sticks in my mind.  The clip of Young Frankenstein also has the incredible and long RIP Marty Feldman (1934 to 1982), a genius of comic writing and timing.   Â
TMoney Posted September 15, 2016 Report Posted September 15, 2016 My poor cat, Sushi wasn't feeling well last night so I took her in to the vet this morning. He said her kidneys had failed and that it was her time. Sushi made it to just two weeks shy of her 19th birthday. I am very sad, but she had a good, long life. She was a very good pet to me and my family. RIP, Sushi. 1
ironbut Posted September 15, 2016 Report Posted September 15, 2016 RIP Sushi! Sorry to hear but that is a good long life. My cat had the same issues and passed last year. I hope there's a great cat heaven with empty boxes and catnip mice everywhere. 1
Craig Sawyers Posted September 15, 2016 Report Posted September 15, 2016 RIP Sushi. Very sad to hear. 19 is a great innings.
Absorbine_Sr Posted September 15, 2016 Report Posted September 15, 2016 Sorry about Sushi. Effie will get extra hugs and scratches in Sushi's honor tonight.
