Craig Sawyers Posted March 9, 2016 Report Posted March 9, 2016 At least George Martin was 90 - so not a bad innings at all. 3
Hopstretch Posted March 9, 2016 Report Posted March 9, 2016 (edited) And a great legacy! RIP. Edited March 9, 2016 by Hopstretch
TMoney Posted March 9, 2016 Report Posted March 9, 2016 RIP, George. A brilliant musical mind. He and the Beatles made some incredible music together. I loved seeing his segments on the Beatles Anthology documentary.Â
guzziguy Posted March 9, 2016 Report Posted March 9, 2016 RIP Sir Martin and thanks for all the music.
Dusty Chalk Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 RIP Keith Emerson GODDAMMIT 2016, WILL YOU FUCKING QUIT IT ALREADY?
Craig Sawyers Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 Oh bugger. Â That is another major blow. Â RIP Keith. Â
Voltron Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 What in the fuck is going on?! RIP E to the LP
Craig Sawyers Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 (edited) This highlights Emerson's earlier reincarnation - keyboard in the Nice. Â In my original home town of Newcastle, the town council sponsored a piece of music called the Five Bridges Suite (since at that time Newcastle had five bridges across the river Tyne. Â It was semi classical with the Northern Symphony Orchestra and the Nice. Â Totally awesome. Â The cover image is of the Tyne Bridge that was used as the basis of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Â The highlight is the Sibelius Karelia Suite, with Emerson in full flight (might be on disc 2) Â Edited March 11, 2016 by Craig Sawyers 1
Dusty Chalk Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 As a Facebook friend of mine said (well), "keyboard players just lost their Jimi Hendrix". Â To which I will amend, "...or Steve Howe". Â But yeah. Â RIP
Grahame Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 RIP Keith.  It seems The 2016 Club is the new  27 Club.
skullguise Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 (edited) Oh, wow fuck fuck fuck.....ELP was my first REAL big musical love. Â Back in the early 70's, my brother had all their albums to date, and kept getting them as they came out up to and including Welcome Back My Friends.... Â One of my early favorites was Pictures At An Exhibition, because they covered "Nutrocker" which had become the Boston Bruins hockey theme. Â And then again, still in my youthful days, finding out that Toccata was used for the Creature Double Feature theme song... I will always remember the image of him with his high boots, surrounded by rows of keyboards, going absolutely nuts playing like a madman.... RIP..... EDIT: WTF? Â "gunshot wound to the head..."? Â Oh, gawd..... Edited March 11, 2016 by skullguise
Dusty Chalk Posted March 12, 2016 Report Posted March 12, 2016 My first ELP album was Welcome Back, My Friends....  Keith Emerson was my first idol. Was just coming back here to point out the possibility of suicide -- pure conjecture at this point, but: http://www.tmz.com/2016/03/11/keith-emerson-death-suicide/ I disagree with suicide, so will shut up now.
Kerry Posted March 12, 2016 Report Posted March 12, 2016 Wow very sad to hear. Too many greats leaving us.
ironbut Posted March 12, 2016 Report Posted March 12, 2016 Very sad for whatever the reason. RIP Keith Emerson.
