dsavitsk Posted April 1, 2014 Report Posted April 1, 2014 Frankie Knuckles, house music 'godfather,' dead at 59 http://www.chicagotribune.com/entertainment/music/turnitup/chi-frankie-knuckles-obit-20140331,0,565674.column Quote
Knuckledragger Posted April 1, 2014 Report Posted April 1, 2014 ^ Very sad. Frankie Knuckles crossed many boundaries in his career. He got black and white gay men to dance with each other. He got straight people to dance in gay nightclubs (and the other way 'round.) He kept his flavor of dance music alive during the era when "disco" was always followed by "sucks." The term "house music" comes from the Warehouse, the club where Frankie held his residency. 1 Quote

Voltron Posted April 4, 2014 Report Posted April 4, 2014 We watched both Blazing Saddles and High Anxiety recently and he was so frickin hilarious. RIP HK Quote
skullguise Posted April 4, 2014 Report Posted April 4, 2014 Oh, wow.....LOVED Harvey Korman in so many things, especially the live skits with Tim Conway on the Carol Burnett show..... I'm so glad we had this time together.....RIP Harvey. Quote
Wmcmanus Posted April 4, 2014 Author Report Posted April 4, 2014 This is actually Tim Conway at his best with physical humor, but I've always loved the way Harvey tries so hard to swallow his laughter. Quote
agile_one Posted April 4, 2014 Report Posted April 4, 2014 RIP, HK. Busted a gut countless times watching him. I think because you got the sense that he was having so much fun making us laugh just added to the experience. Quote
Wmcmanus Posted April 7, 2014 Author Report Posted April 7, 2014 (edited) Mickey Rooney died today at age 93. Such a lovable guy, and like Harvey, he really made me laugh as well. I think it's fair to say that most of his body of work was before my time, so I remember him mostly as an older guy who was a great 'show biz' story teller on the late night talk shows. RIP. http://www.tmz.com/2014/04/06/mickey-rooney-dead/ Edited April 7, 2014 by Wmcmanus Quote
blessingx Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 Heading to YT to watch National Velvet and Black Stallion clips. Quote

skullguise Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 RIP to both....haven't seen much of Rooney's work, did see a recorded stand-up of John Pinette some time ago. Stopped watching Seinfeld fairly early on, so didn't remember him from that. Quote
Wmcmanus Posted April 7, 2014 Author Report Posted April 7, 2014 Dang! I just knew that John Pinette wouldn't last long, just like John Candy and Louie Anderson. These guys were great comics, but just so big... RIP. Quote
Riotvan Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 Sounds harsh but if you are known as the big funny guy and then all of a sudden you lose weight it might damage your career. I think that's why allot of people stay big even after they've had their breakthrough. Sort of a brand recognition i guess... Anyway, RIP i saw his standup a couple of times and it was enjoyable.
