Wmcmanus Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 When you think of Santa Claus (not me specifically, but just in general), how tall do you perceive him to be? Just curious, and just for fun.
blessingx Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 (edited) Never thought of this, but interesting question. Easy to imagine a wide variance of possibilities. Probably depends on perspective. Edited August 29, 2013 by blessingx
Dreadhead Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 I think about 6ft or so as rotund looks about in proportion at that height and you're short enough that you shouldn't scare little kids too much.
Wmcmanus Posted August 29, 2013 Author Report Posted August 29, 2013 Great pic, Ric. I'm going to share that at ClausNet, where we discuss all things Santa all the time...
spritzer Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 We have 13 of them so this is a tricky question...
robm321 Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 6'0" I think tall is my perception, because most interactions were when I was small.
Sherwood Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 I'm with Bryan (in all things). 6'2". Santa has to always be taller than me, 1
acidbasement Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 5'10" in boots. This. The ratio of girth to height is also important. I'd say somewhere around 0.65 is ideal.
Wmcmanus Posted August 29, 2013 Author Report Posted August 29, 2013 Keep the responses coming, guys! I've got a Facebook thread going on this as well. Opinions do vary on the subject, do they not?
Voltron Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 (edited) How tall the 6 to 8 black men are. Antonio, have you ever seen Santa at his summer home or shared some tapas with him? Edited August 29, 2013 by Voltron
blessingx Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 The ratio of height to fire hazards is also important.
Torpedo Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 How tall the 6 to 8 black men are. Antonio, have you ever seen Santa at his summer home or shared some tapas with him? The video obviously is wrong. While nowadays we have the luck of having presents brought by Santa and The Three Wise Men (Reyes Magos) on Christmas Eve and Epiphany Eve, when I was a kid only Los Reyes Magos were bringing them. Not sure if that was a Catholic thing or a wealth one. However we were aware of Santa's existence and we already knew he spent part of his holidays on our sunny and warm beaches, but not in summer, but around the Easter time. Tapas, jamón de bellota pata negra, Ribera de Duero and all those gourmandises are to blame of his round belly. I saw him several times when I lived in the Mediterranean Coast
Wmcmanus Posted August 29, 2013 Author Report Posted August 29, 2013 Just seems so terribly wrong, Ric. I can actually feel his pain... and that of so many horrified observers. It's like something out of a really bad B movie, or maybe a Kevin Smith movie. No wait, that's kind of the same thing.
Audiojunkie Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 I guess I always pictured the old guy as around 6 feet tall.
blessingx Posted August 30, 2013 Report Posted August 30, 2013 What's the visualization when people are approximating his height? Shaking his hand? He inspecting elves work? Flying across the sky?
boomana Posted August 30, 2013 Report Posted August 30, 2013 When I was a kid, I thought Santa was a giant, like 10 feet tall. Don't know why I thought that, but it seemed right at the time. Now, I don't really think about Santa at all (sorry).
shellylh Posted August 30, 2013 Report Posted August 30, 2013 I always thought of him as really tall but that was mostly seeing him when I was a kid. Of course, I think everyone is really tall (at least they are really tall to me).
robm321 Posted August 30, 2013 Report Posted August 30, 2013 What's the visualization when people are approximating his height? Shaking his hand? He inspecting elves work? Flying across the sky? Towering over me at the mall
ironbut Posted August 30, 2013 Report Posted August 30, 2013 Interesting stuff Wayne. When I started thinking about it my first thought was, 'about the same height as my dad'. On second thought, I don't think that's a coincidence! 1
