shellylh Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 I'm thinking of getting an Excalibur 4-tray dehydrator. I want something that is smallish and not that expensive. Before buying, I thought I would ask if anyone else has a small dehydrator that they would recommend? I will mostly be using this for dehydrating soaked nuts. http://www.amazon.com/Excalibur-2400-4-Tray-Economy-Dehydrator/dp/B0047WOWHE/ref=sr_1_8?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1377484067&sr=1-8
Augsburger Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 I will have to ask one of our friends what she uses. It seems she uses one for all of her chicken and roast dishes she prepares.
ironbut Posted August 27, 2013 Report Posted August 27, 2013 I have an American Harvest (now owned by Nesco) that I use to restore old tape recordings. It's lasted for years. The heat is very consistent. It's very easy to clean and it's very cheap. It's so cheap in fact that I've thought about buying a second one for actually using on food! Another nice feature is that you can add shelves to increase capacity. You can pick them up for at Bed Bath And Beyond for under $70, but if you keep an eye on their fliers, they show up for under $50. http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/nesco-reg-american-harvest-reg-snackmaster-reg-encore-trade-dehydrator-and-jerky-maker-and-trays/113612?Keyword=food+dehydrator
shellylh Posted August 28, 2013 Author Report Posted August 28, 2013 Thanks, I'll look into the Nescos.
