Voltron Posted July 5, 2013 Report Posted July 5, 2013 Congrat to Stretch on the first South African to wear the yellow jersey! Impey looks a little like you although his name is kind of the opposite of yours.
VPI Posted July 5, 2013 Report Posted July 5, 2013 Great race so far. I just wish the Garmin Sharp guys could ride more than 100 yards without crashing.
Dreadhead Posted July 5, 2013 Report Posted July 5, 2013 Great racing so far. Looking forward to tomorrow's stage.
Hopstretch Posted July 5, 2013 Report Posted July 5, 2013 Thanks Al! Good cycling family. Dad and brother run a bike shop in Joburg. It was "wear yellow" day today in Cape Town. Tomorrow too, I guess.
boomana Posted July 5, 2013 Report Posted July 5, 2013 Today's stage was fun. Props to Cannondale and Sagan also. I enjoy watching the climbers more than the sprinters, not that I can do either, but I'm in awe of the mountain climbers. Next couple days should be really interesting.
Voltron Posted July 5, 2013 Author Report Posted July 5, 2013 I'm half way through today's stage, which I should have mentioned above. I have mostly tried to skip anything that look like it might have news of the day so I have not read Vicki's post, for example. We should try to avoid posting fresh results here in general so that we don't spoil things for tapers.
VPI Posted July 5, 2013 Report Posted July 5, 2013 (edited) Sorry I told you ahead of time that all of Team Garmin Sharp ran into each other and injured themselves. Edited July 5, 2013 by VPI 1
Voltron Posted July 5, 2013 Author Report Posted July 5, 2013 I already knew about that one because they haven't been able to stay on their bikes in general.

Dreadhead Posted July 6, 2013 Report Posted July 6, 2013 (edited) I think this possibly going to be a boring tour. Sky very rarely goes so hard that they can't recover Edited July 6, 2013 by Dreadhead
MexicanDragon Posted July 6, 2013 Report Posted July 6, 2013 Great race so far. I just wish the Garmin Sharp guys could ride more than 100 yards without crashing. So what you're saying, is if I work on my handling skills, and triple my distance, I could possibly ride for Garmin-Sharp one day? **BRENT**
morphsci Posted July 6, 2013 Report Posted July 6, 2013 (edited) I think this possibly going to be a boring tour.... So par for the course? Edited July 6, 2013 by morphsci
boomana Posted July 7, 2013 Report Posted July 7, 2013 I think this possibly going to be a boring tour. Sky very rarely goes so hard that they can't recover There are still two weeks left. Maybe Sky will win again, but it's fun watching it all unfold, and seeing individual performances. I don't care who wins, which makes it more entertaining.
Dreadhead Posted July 7, 2013 Report Posted July 7, 2013 We'll see. I'm getting that sinking feeling about 2 best friends and roommates climbing like that and I am not the only one: http://www.sportsscientists.comFuck I hate that I have to think this way but...
n_maher Posted July 7, 2013 Report Posted July 7, 2013 We'll have to see how it plays out but those two simply crushed that climb.
raffy Posted July 7, 2013 Report Posted July 7, 2013 Jeff, I was thinking about you when I saw the finish. Yay indeed! More importantly, I liked how the distanced contenders attacked Black and Blue and isolated the yellow jersey. I hope is this a sign of things to come in the next 2 weeks.
VPI Posted July 7, 2013 Report Posted July 7, 2013 I was hoping they might be able to do more damage to that big lead as it appeared Movistar might be able to make some real progress. I was also happy that when Garmin Sharp ran into people, those people were on another team. He pretty much put that Sky racer into the creek in the early part of the race. I was very impressed by Ryder up in the lead pack for quite a bit with a broken rib. I would be watching the race poolside from my home if I had a broken rib not leading on a mountain stage.
n_maher Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 Yeah, it was nice to see most of Sky suffer and fall back. This week will hopefully be really interesting.
boomana Posted July 19, 2013 Report Posted July 19, 2013 The loonies in the crowd on today's stage were downright scary. http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/2929539/outofmywayimonabike.gif 2
Voltron Posted July 19, 2013 Author Report Posted July 19, 2013 The loonies really bug the shit out of me and clearly screwed up some of the leaders on the second ascent of the Alpe. But what a wild stage. Seriously nuts.
n_maher Posted July 19, 2013 Report Posted July 19, 2013 I don't understand why SKY is being allowed to cheat so obviously? This is the second or third time they've illegally given riders food and drink late in a race and Froome was clearly crashing before the bottle and snack.
