Craig Sawyers Posted July 19, 2021 Report Posted July 19, 2021 Ella Fitzgerald with her assistant in a Houston PD holding cell after she and fellow jazz great Dizzy Gillespie were arrested for "throwing dice" in Fitzgerald’s dressing room at the Houston Music Hall, 1955 1 2
Craig Sawyers Posted July 23, 2021 Report Posted July 23, 2021 I wonder how Alan Shepard, a guy whose military, test pilot and astronaut is of the highest achievement, would feel about his name being associated with Bezos's vanity project? I guess Bezos, Musk and Branson wouldn't have a place at the table if NASA got its act together. 2
Knuckledragger Posted July 23, 2021 Author Report Posted July 23, 2021 This is a bizarre video. It's about a very zoomer meme (amongus) but it's based on a boomer* film that's as old as I am. *The Pythons aren't actually boomers. They're all from the Silent Generation.
Knuckledragger Posted July 26, 2021 Author Report Posted July 26, 2021 The moon rising over a hill in California, engulfed in a wildfire.
Knuckledragger Posted July 28, 2021 Author Report Posted July 28, 2021 Man, my friend Brent (of Bluvessel fame, not fat head) is nuts: He's digitizing a a 1998 record with 500 locked grooves on it. 2 1

Craig Sawyers Posted August 4, 2021 Report Posted August 4, 2021 Alternatively Plus of course algebra is an Arabic term, from Al Jebr meaning to unite broken parts. 1
Fitz Posted August 4, 2021 Report Posted August 4, 2021 That video makes me wish there was a facepalm reaction option. 1
guzziguy Posted August 4, 2021 Report Posted August 4, 2021 Ignorance and bias? No shortage of those here.
Beefy Posted August 4, 2021 Report Posted August 4, 2021 (edited) The problem I have with that video is how the questions are loaded. Arabic numerals is the official and colloquial name of the numbers we use. Lemaitre's theory was officially called the hypothesis of the primeval atom and colloquially known as the big bang theory. By referring to it only as his theory of creation is quite silly. Still, I bet the 'Republicans' and 'Democrats' they polled for that video are really just 'idiots' and 'idiots'. Edited August 4, 2021 by Beefy Type good, stupid 2
Dusty Chalk Posted August 4, 2021 Report Posted August 4, 2021 I just found it amusing that that video was brought to you by Fox News. 2
blessingx Posted August 4, 2021 Report Posted August 4, 2021 Shortcuts. Reminds me of the Stewart, I think, segment eons ago polling people if "heterosexuals should serve in the military"? 1 1
blessingx Posted August 4, 2021 Report Posted August 4, 2021 The world of Miami Vice guest stars and pre-stars. Surprised to see Leonard Cohen and Frank Zappa. 2
