swt61 Posted September 2, 2023 Report Posted September 2, 2023 That person has never had 'good' biscuits and gravy. I too have had restaurant versions I'd describe in the same way.
ktm Posted September 2, 2023 Report Posted September 2, 2023 So with the whole SBF trial coming up, why do we only hear crickets about SAM TRABUCCO ? The guy bailed a couple months before the collapse and is suspected to be hiding in international waters off South America on his boat. You'd think at least the press would of gotten a snapshot of him lounging on the deck by now.
Knuckledragger Posted September 2, 2023 Author Report Posted September 2, 2023 I can't recall if I posted the screenshot of the "Workers in Tennessee collecting the Dew from the Mountains" post in here or not. Either way, here's the whole set. 2 1
swt61 Posted September 2, 2023 Report Posted September 2, 2023 Colin must be hiding there somewhere. 2
Dusty Chalk Posted September 3, 2023 Report Posted September 3, 2023 It makes me think of that scene in one of the Baroque Cycle by Neal Stephenson where Half-cocked Jack needs to make phosphor out of piss, so he distills it. (crickets) Just me?
Knuckledragger Posted September 3, 2023 Author Report Posted September 3, 2023 That Mountain Dew set caused me to fall down a deep cursed AI rabbit hole. There's gonna be a lot of such images mixed in with the regular Slow. Most sane Gary Busey fanfic. In the parlance of our times, most comprehensible AI meme.
Torpedo Posted September 3, 2023 Report Posted September 3, 2023 Dear lord, some of those are really disgusting 1
Knuckledragger Posted September 3, 2023 Author Report Posted September 3, 2023 I elected to exclude some feet photos which are a non-euclidean nightmare they'd make Yog-Sothoth wince. I've still got a whole folder full of cursed AI images yet to go. The real horror here is the AI itself. Right now it's at the "haha that's so funny it's trying to make something real" phase. In a shorter time than we can imagine, it will be nearly impossible to identify AI images. I'm sure we will have people who becomes experts in the field, but that will not stop the era of disinformation from accelerating further. "Don't wake me, I plan on sleeping in." 2

While the pattern recognition models will get better, some increasing percentage of what it consumes in the future will be AI generated, and that recursion will make the hallucinations worse, not better. To be better, the AI would need to be able to differentiate between AI generated and not AI generated, and it can't. 1
Torpedo Posted September 3, 2023 Report Posted September 3, 2023 I must recognize that Doug has a point, but I'm afraid Knuckles is right. In no time we'll be seeing videos of things that never happened looking as if they did. The deeper we go in this hole, the happier I am of not having successors of this cursed lineage of mine.
Dusty Chalk Posted September 3, 2023 Report Posted September 3, 2023 Oh, that's not even the real nightmare. https://medium.com/@andrew_johnson_4/applications-of-large-language-models-in-medical-diagnoses-e0d3a113b3bc I mean, those photos and videos are fun and benign, compared to THAT.

Knuckledragger Posted September 3, 2023 Author Report Posted September 3, 2023 Conversely, in the "low stakes, but still terrifying to me dept" is Elon Musk as the ultimate EDM bro: AI is as good at rendering DJ equipment as it is human hands. 1
Knuckledragger Posted September 4, 2023 Author Report Posted September 4, 2023 I'm almost 50 years old (most of head-case: "Cool story, Knuckles. We almost remember being 50 years old.") I'd like to think I'm still "hip" and "with it" but the zoomers inform me on a daily basis I am lacking in "rizz" and that's "no kizzy on god fr fr no cap." With that said, I use most of the same technologies the youts do. Discord is possibly the single most important app I use. Where I draw the line is Tik Tok. I have never used it nor will I. The other side of that coin is the fac that I can't stop staring into the abyss that is AI generated images. A generated "white Snoop Dogg" looks like Kid Rock.
Dusty Chalk Posted September 4, 2023 Report Posted September 4, 2023 Looks like Snoop Dogg...with a Willie Nelson wig and funny lighting and exposure to make him look pale. Unrelated: 3
Knuckledragger Posted September 5, 2023 Author Report Posted September 5, 2023 Nice shirt though. Mexican Snoop Dog. This one is from a huge set of "Barbie Dream Home IRL" which got very dark at the end. I love how AI doesn't know how to gun. Abandoned Scout, Haines AK. 2 1

swt61 Posted September 7, 2023 Report Posted September 7, 2023 Oh, I just thought you were showing a picture of Doug's house on a slow cat day. 1
Knuckledragger Posted September 10, 2023 Author Report Posted September 10, 2023 We had a wild one here on MV yesterday. Driver was drunk and attempted to flee. 1 1
RudeWolf Posted September 10, 2023 Report Posted September 10, 2023 Is Challenger the fragile masculinity car of the US? For us it's the bimmer. 1
