Guest sacd lover Posted February 14, 2007 Report Posted February 14, 2007 This arrived today. . It is playing. It works. I will comment in a couple of weeks. I saw this pic and I thought this could be something new and interesting to try out. But then I saw these posts from the Tube Asylums and this unit sounds like a build quality/ customer service nightmare! http://db.audioasylum.com/cgi/m.mpl?forum=tubes&n=190381&highlight=frihed89&r=&session= http://db.audioasylum.com/cgi/m.mpl?forum=tubediy&n=116589&highlight=frihed89&r=&session= http://db.audioasylum.com/cgi/m.mpl?forum=tubes&n=190718&highlight=frihed89&r=&session= http://www.audioasylum.com/forums/tubediy/messages/116891.html I know Phil sent his McAlister amp back for some changes. I hope he is having better luck than Frihed89. Quote
KenW Posted February 15, 2007 Report Posted February 15, 2007 GULP!! I really feel for the guy. Sounds like a nightmare. Quote
PFKMan23 Posted February 15, 2007 Report Posted February 15, 2007 Damn that sucks. I hope he gets this resolved soon. Quote
philodox Posted February 15, 2007 Report Posted February 15, 2007 I'm not surprised. I agree with that guy completely. Peter knows his circuits, his amps are insanely cheap, and they sound lovely... BUT... he does tend to 'cut corners' [mostly because he is in a rush, I think], and have low build quality. If you want to put up with the hassle of him getting it right and are on a budget, I say go for it. If you are well off and want a nice and simple process, look elsewhere. Quote
pabbi1 Posted February 17, 2007 Report Posted February 17, 2007 My EA-6 is still MIA, but I don't really care, since the build quality is, uh, well, underwhelming, even for the insanely cheap price. I would post pics, but that would impede my ability to sell it. Quote
