tjkurita Posted May 14, 2013 Report Posted May 14, 2013 I am moving to Cooperstown, New York at the end of May, 2013. My girlfriend will be the only one I know. Any Head-Casers up in that area? Otsego County, Herkimer (sp?), middle of nowhere, New York State? Let's get a couple of micro meets every now and again. Also, we can car-pool to the NYC meet in the fall (we will rent an Audi R8 from Hertz; there's enough space for a portable rig).
grawk Posted May 14, 2013 Report Posted May 14, 2013 I'm not there, but at least you'll be sharing a town with Ommegang. Be sure to stop by, and see if they have any cave aged offerings...
agile_one Posted May 14, 2013 Report Posted May 14, 2013 John ... I've never been to Cooperstown, but have met many people that live there (most were professionals - docs doing research, artists, etc), or friends who have visited, and fell in love with the olde New England small town vibe. If you don't find anything to be interested in, you'll die of the small town after NYC, but, if you stay open to the intellect, art, and energy that is there, you should love the place For real residents, the BB HOF is an afterthought.
tjkurita Posted May 14, 2013 Author Report Posted May 14, 2013 Thanks Grawk, Gene! I am going up there to write a book... My girlfriend is gainfully employed and will sponsor my effort for a while (she works at the Glimmerglass Festival, an opera and music festival every summer). In my off-time I will listen to music. I happen to be a huge baseball fan, so the HOF is appealing, although in my several visits I have never been there. As a joke I tell people "I'm going to Cooperstown for the Opera." It would be cool to organize a meet up there, but if not, I still have family in NYC and I will come down for the big meets. I must say in the 14 years I have lived in NYC I have taken it for granted. Including the access to all the audiophiles in town. Only did one meet at my apt. and that first HF. I am looking forward to a change, though... Every morning during my commute I feel more and more like a sardine.
