Torpedo Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 Excellent news! I wish some wealthy and technically powerful team helps to spicy up things.
Absorbine_Sr Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 I have high hopes Mikey. Haas runs a pretty successful NASCAR team and has pretty deep pockets.

Torpedo Posted April 14, 2014 Report Posted April 14, 2014 Unfortunately the car is a turd already, and the new manager will hardly be able to improve it enough to be competitive against Mercedes or RB.
Absorbine_Sr Posted April 14, 2014 Report Posted April 14, 2014 http://en.espnf1.com/ferrari/motorsport/story/125309.html Well, it looks like they didn't fire him, he "stepped down"..... http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2028419-stefano-domenicali-reportedly-resigns-from-ferrari-latest-details-and-reaction The sad thing is the new guy is not only also Italian but he comes from sales.... hunker down Tifosi, it's going to be a bumpy ride.
Mario_Fpolis Posted April 14, 2014 Report Posted April 14, 2014 Unfortunately the car is a turd already, and the new manager will hardly be able to improve it enough to be competitive against Mercedes or RB. Or Williams, btw. China GP will be 4 a.m. Brazilian time, another sleepless night. Hope it´ll be as good as the last one. Nico has 1 win on this track, Lewis 2, but Alonso pulled an unexpected win last year, when he was also the underdog. Sounds promising. Marco Mattiacci, Ferrari North America, sales expert, no experience whatsoever in car racing, is what they are saying here. Tifosi will have to sit and wait one more year, at least...
Absorbine_Sr Posted April 14, 2014 Report Posted April 14, 2014 I hope Mattiacci is a good manager. But my suspicion is that if Enzo ever found out a guy from Sales was heading the race team, he'd need a rev limiter in his grave. 1
Absorbine_Sr Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 And today's rumor is that Mattiacci is a temporary manager and that Ferrari is trying to woo Ross Brawn out of retirement. Sounds doubtful but I can dream, can't I? 1
Mario_Fpolis Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 (edited) Strange, to me, is the fact that the company do not have a member of the current staff, tried and used in F1 circus, able to do a better job than a complete stranger. ´cause a salesman from US is nothing but a stranger in a (very) strange land. Torpedo Posted May 24, 2014 Report Posted May 24, 2014 Montercarlo's qualifying in 20 minutes. Will there be surprises? I don't think so, yet...
Absorbine_Sr Posted May 24, 2014 Report Posted May 24, 2014 Well, Lewis and Nico seem to be getting along great now...
Absorbine_Sr Posted May 24, 2014 Report Posted May 24, 2014 (edited) I fear not well Antonio. We shall see. Edited May 24, 2014 by Absorbine_Sr
ironbut Posted May 24, 2014 Author Report Posted May 24, 2014 Really hoping for a "clean" race this year. The last 2 have been one mess after another IMHO. I gotta say that I'm lovin' the inter team fighting this year.
mikeymad Posted May 25, 2014 Report Posted May 25, 2014 Think it is going to a a close and tense season for Mercedes this season. Various frustrations around the track for several teams. Too bad for Kimi - had a good race ahead of him, and Alonso always seems to be there way outdriving his car.
Torpedo Posted May 25, 2014 Report Posted May 25, 2014 Yup, Kimi had a great start, and bad luck too. Like Vettel, the Spanish TV announcer said Sebastian inherited Weber's bad luck . The Mercedes kids are behaving pretty well, I was expecting some aggressive take over try by Louis, but he stood calm. However the feeling I have is that he'll settle accounts somewhere else. It's a pity Ferrari can't give Fernando a really competitive car. Maybe with a good car his qualities wouldn't show as much as they're showing now. I mean he'd be heading the championship with the same kind of boring repetition as Vettel did past years.
ironbut Posted May 25, 2014 Author Report Posted May 25, 2014 Seems like the drivers are still not as confident with these new cars as with the old formula. There wasn't much of that delicate dancing through the left/right complexes that I'm used to seeing. Maybe the throttle response just isn't there with the turbo? Maybe they're braking instead of tapping the throttle? (Talk about a wild ass guess!)
ironbut Posted June 9, 2014 Author Report Posted June 9, 2014 That was pretty awesome for sure! I really found myself rooting for Williams and Force India but once the smoke cleared and I saw that Riccardo had a shot, I couldn't help but grin right along with him! All that technical stuff is super interesting but it always comes down to the human interest for me. The kinda stuff that makes this sport amazing!
ironbut Posted June 16, 2014 Author Report Posted June 16, 2014 (edited) Schumacher out of coma! Next thing we'll know, he'll be joining the Swiss ski jumping team! http://www.formula1.com/news/headlines/2014/6/15951.html Edited June 16, 2014 by ironbut
Torpedo Posted June 21, 2014 Report Posted June 21, 2014 When did they set track limit violations? Do they have in Austria turns that you cannot as fast as you can?
padam Posted June 21, 2014 Report Posted June 21, 2014 (edited) It is not a new rule, there is always a thin line between going as fast as possible and keeping it on the track. Two wheels slightly off is fine, four is not but maybe I am wrong. Could be track specific, and if it is, the drivers are well aware of that. It applies during racing as well, although usually they only get a few warnings. Edited June 21, 2014 by padam
Torpedo Posted June 21, 2014 Report Posted June 21, 2014 Oh, I misunderstood it. I was thinking about a speed limit, not the keeping wheels into the track rule, which you're right, applies at every circuit
Absorbine_Sr Posted June 26, 2014 Report Posted June 26, 2014 FIA now officially shows they have their heads up their asses: http://www.formula1.com/news/headlines/2014/6/16003.html Discuss. Shame for those bastards who have to restart in the marbles (clag per Mr. Hobbs). Unless it's Rosberg.
