justin Posted February 28, 2013 Author Report Posted February 28, 2013 Does Dinny's DAC do DSD? 1 Quote
Voltron Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 I have never liked the sound of the Benchmark DAC1 and yet Ric is right that I was also impressed the DAC2 HGC. Very good sound and handles a lot of formats and inputs. No SD or USB stick input directly, but maybe some external device can allow such connections to the USB input? The seriously impressive sounding device was the Playback Designs MPD-5. The MPS-5 version also has a CD/SACD player that would be super sweet, but not smaller or lighter than your Sony monster. What is Dinny's DAC? Quote
VPI Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 I thought Dinny went back to some vintage DAC. My dCS DAC does DSD but I have never gone to the trouble of finding DSD music files. I guess I should try that at some point. Quote
justin Posted February 28, 2013 Author Report Posted February 28, 2013 no idea what DAC dinny is on i've been using the Oppo BDP-95 as the Sony XA5400ES is only built to withstand 8 fedex shipments. Quote
Cee Tee Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 (edited) I bought Dinny's PWD2, I think he is still on the NAD M51. Edit: M51 can't accept DSD audio via HDMI, but can accept SACD playback if converted by the BD/SACD player at up to 24/192 PCM. Edited February 28, 2013 by Cee Tee Quote
morphsci Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 No sign from Parasound or Google. Maybe. I'd be curious if anyone has successfully played back files from a USB Flash drive. Obviously I was overtired when I posted that Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 http://highresolutiontechnologies.com/music-streamer-hd HRT Music Streamer HD, Full Sized XLR, 24bit 192 khz and it supports USB 1.0 and 2.0, Dagnabit, that must've come out after I bought the pro. I would have wanted both 192 kHz and the full sized XLR connectors.Sent frum mah phone-blet using Tapatalk. Quote
emelius Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 (edited) fwiw, I'm fascinated by the potential & flexibility of the Lynx Hilo... I'd like to spend some alone time w/it:)... & it does DSD w/a firmware update... Edited February 28, 2013 by emelius Quote

Dash Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 I am very curious about the HRT stuff for some reason (Dusty's fault). I have the updated hrt music streamer II that I would ship for you to mess with. Quote
shellylh Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 What is the difference between the + and non+ version? Quote
Dash Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 (edited) Price? I think the non plus is a burr brown 1744 and the plus is a 1794. Pm an address and I'll ship it. Edited February 28, 2013 by Dash Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 I think the regular II only does 44.1, whereas the II+ does...okay, no they both do 96kHz Sent frum mah phone-blet using Tapatalk. Quote
Nebby Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 What is the difference between the + and non+ version? Going from their product blurb, supposedly it's got a better DAC and an even better analog output stage: As a Big Brother to the MS II, the HRT Music Streamer II+ does exactly the same job as its less expensive sibling, but is outfitted with a higher quality Digital-to-Analog converter (DAC) and a much more sophisticated analog output stage. http://highresolutiontechnologies.com/music-streamer-ii-plus Quote

I have Ric. It works flawlessly. EDIT: Shit! Sorry, I was confused. It's the Zcd that I've used the flash drive with. Edited February 28, 2013 by swt61 Quote
spritzer Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 Get the "cheap" MSB dac for a nice compliment to the BHSE. The USB inputs are not cheap (even my dealer complains about his price) but the best I've ever tried. Quote

Never really looked at MSB stuff before, but it looks like they really like offering lots of upgrades eh? Quote
spritzer Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 Yup, very much like the German auto makers. With MSB you buy used... Quote
aardvark baguette Posted March 1, 2013 Report Posted March 1, 2013 (edited) How about the Jeff Rowland? wow, thats a lot of transformers edit: actually, I'm not sure what product i'm looking at Edited March 1, 2013 by aardvark baguette Quote
morphsci Posted March 1, 2013 Report Posted March 1, 2013 stream and file transport are different protocols. i have no idea if the DAC in question supports both. Yep. That is why I posted this later.Obviously I was overtired when I posted that Quote
dsavitsk Posted March 1, 2013 Report Posted March 1, 2013 wow, thats a lot of transformers edit: actually, I'm not sure what product i'm looking at I don't think that's the dac. The dac uses the LL1588's on the output, but I think that's it. I have no idea if it sounds good or not, but it is pretty Quote
