Over the years, he interviewed and wrote articles about some of the icons of the 60's and 70's. Folks like Eric Clapton, John Lennon, and Frank Zappa were among those he interviewed. Like most journalists of the time, he would tape those interviews then go back and write his piece from those tapes. Fortunately, Smith had saved those tapes in hopes of using them for writing his memoirs and they've now been digitized and are going to be distributed on iTunes and a limited ed box set.
