he earned that right

Yes, of course. He is a great cyclist and has an increíble palmarés, but Dowsett is the current champion and he is younger.

Wow, the Tour de California was amazing this year.  I won't spoil it for anybody time-shifting, but I just watched yesterday's and today's stages and it was thrilling.

Just rode 16 miles for my first ride of the year. Half a mile in my seat post collar gave up so I did the ride with my seat all the way down. Still did ok.

Rode each day this weekend. Felt really good. I'm pretty confused because my power numbers don't look that bad but again I am 50lbs heavier so I'm a bunch slower.

Looking forward to more riding this year.

I got a feedback sports rack from performance bike that was $99 and works great

Ken,

Either ^^^ what Dan said or keep an eye on CL.  I've seen some good deals roll through NH for stands and you're in a much higher density area.  Also, I own a Feedback stand as well and it is very nice but mine is not in budget (about double).

I've checked the local CL every day since you suggested it Nate.  Not a single work stand has appeared.  So today I bought a PCS-10 and a floor pump from my niece's fiance.

You watching nationals again this year Brent?

Since I live just over a mile from part of the course, that's the plan. Not sure if I want to do hours and hours again, or even the finish, but will definitely watch some of it.

I had a go a creating a course in Garmin's software this morning.  We'll see how it goes on the ride this afternoon.  I set a moderately aggressive pace for the ride - a 24 mile, mostly uphill ride to some of our friend's house.  Not sure that was the best idea considering that I'm a) pretty out of shape and B) trying out a new saddle.  That latter point is probably doubly true in terms of less than great ideas but here's to hoping for more comfort, less pain.

Forgot to mention that I had to buy a cheap front wheel at Performance after discovering a cracked into Zipp front wheel hub. At least it's under CPSC recall so should be covered entirely but I really wish that Zipps didn't fall apart. This is my first front hub failure but I have had 2 rear hub failures. Ridiculous for any wheelset much less the "Clydesdale" build of $$$ wheels.

Looking good, Dan.

Me - commuted to work yesterday. The morning was perfect, 70, no sun, no wind. The afternoon, not so much. Blazing sun, 10-15mph headwind and 90 degrees. I was spanked by the time I got home.

Anyone have a favorite (or hated) garmin mount recommendation? I need 2 for mountain bikes, one for a cross bike, and one for the calfee.

Posted

I stopped using all my k-edges and changed to the Garmin plastic mount. Seems to work very well, might protect the locking tabs better and looks great on all my black bars.

So I threw the calfee on the scale, and without having made any real effort to make a light bike, it's 18.5 lbs ready to ride (ancient seat, mtb campus pedals, alloy wheels)
