tyrion Posted April 7, 2015 Report Posted April 7, 2015 Okay, Mike. I'm leaving it up to you to get John on board. Do you want to ride this weekend? I'm doing a longer ride on Saturday, but planning a short one on Sunday if you're interested. John on board, that's a good one. My back is f'd up but getting better soon riding this weekend.
boomana Posted April 9, 2015 Author Report Posted April 9, 2015 My back is f'd up but getting better soon riding this weekend. Other than your back being messed up, I'm not sure I understand what you're saying here. Are you riding this weekend? If you'd like, meet me at Palmetto at 7AM. I'm riding with Phoenix and Kat (pretty sure you've met them) and a woman from my gym who is just starting out.
grawk Posted April 9, 2015 Report Posted April 9, 2015 As soon as I get the front derailleur shim from calfee, Jeff and I are going to ride. I have 2 different bikes I haven't ridden yet after a crazy bike acquiring winter. 2
Dreadhead Posted April 9, 2015 Report Posted April 9, 2015 ^ Can I come too? I am planning on taking my bike to the lake this weekend which should be a nice weekend for a ride.
VPI Posted April 9, 2015 Report Posted April 9, 2015 Just be warned, there is always a good chance that I will ride about a mile before I get bored and go do something else. 3
Dreadhead Posted April 9, 2015 Report Posted April 9, 2015 (edited) ^ I figured that I'd have to take one of your watches and put it around my seat tube and make you chase me. Now I think about it though you'd likely just shoot me... Well that and you're probably fitter than me at this point. Edited April 9, 2015 by Dreadhead 1
VPI Posted April 9, 2015 Report Posted April 9, 2015 Yeah right. I took the winter off. I am struggling running 5ks at this point and have not been in worse shape in a while. I also have not been a bike in months.
Dreadhead Posted April 9, 2015 Report Posted April 9, 2015 I only started riding again this week after my fall on the 12/23 and subsequent hip injury. I'm also subsisting on 1200 calories a day so I have basically no energy for anything. 1
VPI Posted April 9, 2015 Report Posted April 9, 2015 Take it down to about 650 calories, and then I will like my chances. 1
n_maher Posted April 9, 2015 Report Posted April 9, 2015 I'm going to try to ride 30 this weekend. I expect a disaster of some sort since I have ridden twice this year, for a total of just over 30 miles.
tyrion Posted April 9, 2015 Report Posted April 9, 2015 Other than your back being messed up, I'm not sure I understand what you're saying here. Are you riding this weekend? It should have been so no riding this weekend.
boomana Posted April 10, 2015 Author Report Posted April 10, 2015 Okay. That makes more sense. Hopefully soon.
Mister X Posted April 13, 2015 Report Posted April 13, 2015 Just on the off chance that a budget priced, Canari, fill zip, size "L" (that runs big) jersey might be an arm twister for somebody. http://www.ebay.com/itm/271833021760
Mister X Posted April 14, 2015 Report Posted April 14, 2015 Cool, Would love to hear how the zipper holds up after a bunch of wash cycles. CygoLite Hotshot SLs run for about $25 on eBay now-a-days. Is there a good reason not to snag one? www.ebay.com/itm/301447636890
boomana Posted April 16, 2015 Author Report Posted April 16, 2015 Mike and John, I'm doing a longish ride on Saturday, but am looking to do a short, slow recovery ride on Sunday. Wanna join me? 2
tyrion Posted April 17, 2015 Report Posted April 17, 2015 Mike and John, I'm doing a longish ride on Saturday, but am looking to do a short, slow recovery ride on Sunday. Wanna join me? Are you saying we are short and slow because you would be half right. We will be driving home from Wanee Sunday morning.
guzziguy Posted April 17, 2015 Report Posted April 17, 2015 I've decided that I'd like a work stand for basic maintenance and washing. While I know the HC way, I'd really like to not spend much on this. Are there good <$100 stands or do I just need to bite the bullet and get a Park Tools stand?
grawk Posted April 17, 2015 Report Posted April 17, 2015 I got a feedback sports rack from performance bike that was $99 and works great
n_maher Posted April 18, 2015 Report Posted April 18, 2015 Ken, Either ^^^ what Dan said or keep an eye on CL. I've seen some good deals roll through NH for stands and you're in a much higher density area. Also, I own a Feedback stand as well and it is very nice but mine is not in budget (about double).
VPI Posted April 18, 2015 Report Posted April 18, 2015 Got a whole 2 miles in on the Spot today, with an hour break in the middle at the gym. I seem to remember how to work the bike, so that is good. 3
Augsburger Posted April 22, 2015 Report Posted April 22, 2015 I don't think this applies to anyone here but perhaps someone you know or ride with- http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/trek-recalls-1-million-bikes-rider-paralyzed-article-1.2194234
aerius Posted April 23, 2015 Report Posted April 23, 2015 Decided it was time for me to join the 21st century so I bought myself a carbon full suspension bike with carbon/aluminum wheels. I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up in the hospital by the end of the year, this bike just begs to be ridden at ludicrous speed on every downhill. 6
