Nebby Posted November 12, 2013 Report Posted November 12, 2013 Good to hear the recovery is going well for you Justin!
jpelg Posted November 12, 2013 Report Posted November 12, 2013 Glad to hear the recovery is going well Justin.
agile_one Posted November 12, 2013 Report Posted November 12, 2013 We can rebuild him ... we have the technology ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7zNY0I5JNI
Pars Posted November 12, 2013 Report Posted November 12, 2013 Good to hear Justin! And I'd agree with Antonio about avoiding sweating on the incisions until at least the stitches are removed. They may want you to keep it dry after that as well.
Iron_Dreamer Posted November 13, 2013 Report Posted November 13, 2013 Wow, glad to hear you've had such an ideal recovery!
Pars Posted November 13, 2013 Report Posted November 13, 2013 Invisible (sort of) bike helmut. Technically speaking "invisible" until it is deployed. http://vimeo.com/43038579 You really bit on one of those? Well, I guess this is Head Case Here's hoping it does deploy if you ever need it; better yet hope that you never need it to.
grawk Posted November 13, 2013 Report Posted November 13, 2013 anyone wanting to try a selle anatomica, now is the time: http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=139540 1
n_maher Posted November 13, 2013 Report Posted November 13, 2013 Damnit. I'm severely cycling poor right now....
MexicanDragon Posted November 13, 2013 Report Posted November 13, 2013 That would look great on my wall art/road bike! Maybe they'll do it in 2015 as well. **BRENT**
agile_one Posted November 13, 2013 Report Posted November 13, 2013 Thanks, Dan .... Watershed Mahogany X will soon be in the house. 1
Nebby Posted November 13, 2013 Report Posted November 13, 2013 Thinking of picking up a Titanico NSX for the MTB. Hmmm...
Dreadhead Posted November 13, 2013 Report Posted November 13, 2013 (edited) In preparing for my riding in Barbados in a few weeks I wanted a map to load to my Edge 800. A quick internet search turned up: http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl/ Considering I can't even buy a official Garmin MAP for Barbados, this is very very sweet. They have coverage basically worldwide too. The internet is AWESOME sometimes. Edit: Having done some map stuff before I didn't need this but seeing as Nebby pointed it out here is the DC Rainmaker how-to: http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2013/05/download-garmin-705800810.html Edited November 13, 2013 by Dreadhead
Nebby Posted November 13, 2013 Report Posted November 13, 2013 Dcrainmaker wrote a how-to for that site and it's what I've used for all my mapping, it's a fantastic service.
Pars Posted November 13, 2013 Report Posted November 13, 2013 I found this thread interesting (in a piss me off sort of way) over on the paceline: http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=139393 References this op ed in the NYT: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/11/10/opinion/sunday/is-it-ok-to-kill-cyclists.html?_r=1&
justin Posted November 15, 2013 Report Posted November 15, 2013 i forget, is this the right thread for the florida bike thing in december? it looks like the day i'm supposed to fly out is the day i have my next follow up appt for clavicle, so have to see if i can make that a day earlier. thats supposed to be the day i'm allowed to stop wearing the sling, which would be 4 weeks after surgery. i'm going to guess i'm on the 12 week recovery plan rather than the 3 day one as far as riding a real bike, stationary recumbent is ok as of today, so maybe a real one of those would be ok in 3 more weeks
Torpedo Posted November 15, 2013 Report Posted November 15, 2013 Really surprising. Is that because this system requires longer recovery time than the plate?
justin Posted November 15, 2013 Report Posted November 15, 2013 i dont know, i'm just assuming that if im in a sling for 4 weeks after surgery that riding a real bike before 12 weeks would be frowned upon
Torpedo Posted November 15, 2013 Report Posted November 15, 2013 Oh, we'll see, maybe they take an Xray after those 4 weeks, so if the fracture is well consolidated, you may get back to normal life within the limits that the arm, having been relatively immobilized, allows. Are you allowed some movements? If so, try to keep your hand and elbow in motion. Something like crunching a tennis ball would help to prevent muscular atrophy in the forearm.
justin Posted November 15, 2013 Report Posted November 15, 2013 (edited) had an x-ray today, had been 6 days. my sling has a ball on the end of it to squeeze. another x-ray when i go back in 3 weeks Edited November 15, 2013 by justin
Torpedo Posted November 15, 2013 Report Posted November 15, 2013 Intelligent sling design Use it, you'll thank it later. I hope the X-Ray shows perfect bone repair and you're allowed cycling, climbing or whatever you want to do.
Dreadhead Posted November 15, 2013 Report Posted November 15, 2013 Work has sucked a big egg recently so I took a little break and planned my first route for my Barbados trip passing from sea level to the highest point on the island: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/3667719
Nebby Posted November 17, 2013 Report Posted November 17, 2013 (edited) Someone managed to clip my hitch mount bike rack while backing out of their parking space adjacent to mine. Didn't even leave a note or anything either . Just came back to my car to see that the trays were rotated in the completely wrong direction, which sheared off the metal bit that held the tray in place. I gotta say though, that I'm impressed with the 1up rack. The only damage seems to be the underlying tray that holds the rails, which seems to be bolted on, if I can get a replacement from 1up it should be an easy fix since everything is bolted together. Edited November 18, 2013 by Nebby
Dreadhead Posted November 17, 2013 Report Posted November 17, 2013 Sorry you got clipped but glad that you think the fix will be easy
Nebby Posted November 18, 2013 Report Posted November 18, 2013 Tossed the bike on the saris rack instead and went for a night MTB ride. Very interesting comparing the same trail night vs day. 1
cetoole Posted November 18, 2013 Report Posted November 18, 2013 Tossed the bike on the saris rack instead and went for a night MTB ride. Very interesting comparing the same trail night vs day. Sounds like what Jeff and I did for our first ride. Definitely interesting not being able to see anything.
