Craig Sawyers Posted August 15, 2021 Report Posted August 15, 2021 You are a cycling animal, Nate! There is no way I could live at those power levels.

Also, love at the efforts were on two different bikes. I have something in the works where I may be working on catching up to those numbers, though! 3

swt61 Posted August 16, 2021 Report Posted August 16, 2021 Now you're thinking of your time in strip clubs. 1

The Nobel prizewinner, the late and very great physicist Richard P Feynman, used to go to the local strip club with topless waitresses, drink orange juice and do theoretical physics on scraps of paper. He'd then just pile beermats and scraps of paper with maths on them in his cupboard. After he died there was a major effort to curate everything and try to piece together what on earth Feynman was working on at the strip club.

jose Posted October 1, 2021 Report Posted October 1, 2021 The doctor gave me his OK two months ago so I'm finally recovered ... I haven't been able to train much so tomorrow I just want to finish and have a good time in the middle of the peloton with my friends and coleagues. 11
n_maher Posted October 3, 2021 Report Posted October 3, 2021 ^^Nice ride! Daylight and daytime temps are beginning to conspire against longer road rides around here (not to mention kids' sports) so I made the most of the hour of free time that I had yesterday before dusk. 5
guzziguy Posted October 3, 2021 Report Posted October 3, 2021 Had a nice 2.5 hour local ride. Also broke 4000mi on the odometer. 4
n_maher Posted October 16, 2021 Report Posted October 16, 2021 October is being rather un-Octoberish. It was 70 and sunny today, so I took advantage. Bike is in mullet mode for now after catching a stick last weekened and snapping six spokes in the primary rear wheel. Definitely handles a little weird with the 27.5 on the back and 29 on the front but was better than nothing for sure. 7
n_maher Posted October 25, 2021 Report Posted October 25, 2021 Got the repaired rear wheel back so as long as you can forgive non-matching spokes, all is well. It was a pretty epic day out on the trails, sadly i only had about an hour. 5
n_maher Posted December 4, 2021 Report Posted December 4, 2021 The full squish rig is still broken (derailleur) so I decided to try the hard tail as a 29er today. Was a shit ton of fun and I think I may prefer it this way. Time to find a second set of 29" rims. 6
grawk Posted December 5, 2021 Report Posted December 5, 2021 i’m looking for a set of boost 29” wheels for my 27+ bike too. Today i bought a trek crossrip and a wahoo kicker snap off marketplace (mostly for the wahoo so i can ride indoors with the girlfriend) 1
Grahame Posted January 9, 2022 Report Posted January 9, 2022 So this turned up in my YouTube feed. interesting changes. @Voltron, did you or your hosts have any experiences of the changes on your recent trip?
n_maher Posted January 15, 2022 Report Posted January 15, 2022 File this under, If you want maximum stupid I am the guy. Feels like -9F was accurate, toes were very cold, otherwise I was appropriately dressed. 4
n_maher Posted January 16, 2022 Report Posted January 16, 2022 The winter rig, built last year as a COVID project before it became impossible to find reasonably priced used bike parts, performed very well. Especially once I realized I was running the tire pressures way too high. 5
swt61 Posted January 16, 2022 Report Posted January 16, 2022 (edited) Brings back memories of putting woodscrews through my Cannondale Red Shred mountain bike tires, back in the 80's. I'd pick screws that were about 1/2" long, then screw them through the knobs of the tires, then put in a protective liner, then the tube. Worked great, with the added bonus of texturing your slippery, icy walkways. Edited January 16, 2022 by swt61 5
n_maher Posted February 6, 2022 Report Posted February 6, 2022 After 3" of basically sleet the other day the only good thing to come out of it was absolutely epic winter MTB conditions (driveway is a sheet of ice). Went out for 2hrs with the local crew and simply couldn't stop smiling. 9
