MexicanDragon Posted June 13, 2015 Report Posted June 13, 2015 Stopped by a bike shop for the first time in a long time (had 20 to kill.) Man, the matte black 105/Ultegra/hydraulic disc carbon Domane was so utterly sexy. The one next to it with rim brakes instead was 600$ cheaper, lighter, and also sexy. Window shopping is fun sometimes. VICKI!!!! Welcome back. *hugs* **BRENT**
boomana Posted June 13, 2015 Author Report Posted June 13, 2015 Thanks, Brent. Chris, close to half of that is on a Computrainer, so not real miles yet, but some of the Sufferfest and Tempo programs are kicking my azz. Hoping by end of next month to be in full swing with real miles.

Listen for the crunch a few seconds in as his chain snaps on the first pedal stroke, and then watch the next 4 minutes. This kid is ridiculous. **BRENT**
Mister X Posted June 14, 2015 Report Posted June 14, 2015 (edited) http://www.volvolifepaint.com/ Very cool stuff but imagine when rednecks in the states get their hands on it? A Corvette monster truck with reflective flame paint job coming at you in the other lane at night would be.... Edited June 14, 2015 by Mister X

I wonder if this will become a strategic weight saving method
Augsburger Posted June 14, 2015 Report Posted June 14, 2015 (edited) http://www.volvolifepaint.com/ I no longer ride at night since I do not want my kids to inherit my wine collection at it's current capacity. This would be excellent for night time mountain bike rides, not likely to lose Brent in the canyons when he goes off the trail. Edited June 14, 2015 by Augsburger 1

Dreadhead Posted June 16, 2015 Report Posted June 16, 2015 Pre-ordered Powertap P1 pedals. The Garmin ones still require a torque wrench and I don't want to deal with that. 1

cetoole Posted June 20, 2015 Report Posted June 20, 2015 Anyone planning on watching this? I just stumbled across the course, and the race starts in 25 minutes, so I know what I will be doing after an early dinner/late breakfast. http://www.redbull.com/sk/sk/bike/stories/1331730510691/cdwt-bratislava-blog-2015 1

raffy Posted June 20, 2015 Report Posted June 20, 2015 Did a century today.....it was a little warm. 3

MexicanDragon Posted June 20, 2015 Report Posted June 20, 2015 I did 3 laps of the lake in 90+ weather so I probably know how you feel But you had more than 100ft of total elevation gain, so not quite the same. **BRENT** 1
n_maher Posted June 21, 2015 Report Posted June 21, 2015 Did 34 at just under 19mph and it kicked my ass. The speed was the result of a couple, much faster, friends coming along for the ride. 2
boomana Posted June 21, 2015 Author Report Posted June 21, 2015 Raffy, was that your first century? Are you doing Sebring this Labor Day or are you doing your fantasy football draft thingy again? It was nasty hot out today. I have my alarm set for 5AM so I can be out on the road by 6:30 tomorrow. I want to be back home before it gets in the 90s tomorrow.
cetoole Posted June 21, 2015 Report Posted June 21, 2015 Do any of you use flats for just riding around town in normal shoes? I'm looking at Ergon PC2 Evo. Not sure if there are any other good options, such as flats on one side, clip less on the other.
grawk Posted June 21, 2015 Report Posted June 21, 2015 I use shimano m530s, which are mtb cleats on one side, and flats on the other.
Pars Posted June 21, 2015 Report Posted June 21, 2015 I just bought a used pair of Wellgo B-67s; still haven't tried them yet. The Ergons seem expensive for what is basically just a flat pedal. Some reviews I read claim traction, while good, isn't as good as pins, etc. Of course these probably wouldn't fuck up your shins in a mishap like pinned pedals might. The Shimano dual purpose pedals like Grawk has might be a better choice, as you could go clipless if you wanted to.
MexicanDragon Posted June 21, 2015 Report Posted June 21, 2015 He already has a clipless setup (105 level SPD-SL), so no reason to switch to SPD, and shoes to match. Pins will tear up some shoes, so those are out. It seems like the Ergons would have reasonable grip and wouldn't mess up shoes. These are what I want. http://flypedals.com/ Dan, do you mean A530s? I have some M530s and they're SPDs with a cage. I like the idea of A530s. **BRENT**
cetoole Posted June 21, 2015 Report Posted June 21, 2015 I have a few pairs of pinned pedals for my mtb, and have some scars from them. They will also mess up shoes as Brent mentioned, and I have a lot more invested in shoes than the ergons cost (or even total bike stuff).
raffy Posted June 22, 2015 Report Posted June 22, 2015 Chris, thanks for putting me over the edge and finally on 165mm cranks. I only have 40 miles or so on then but I feel more efficient and it's easier to push the pedals "over the top" if that makes any sense. 1
