boomana Posted June 12, 2014 Author Report Posted June 12, 2014 every year I lose more than I gain it seems. I just went for a bike ride on a rail trail on the salsa, and 8 miles wore me out. I'm almost always miserable the first 5-10 miles, then things kick in and I'm happy. Of course, I'm guessing even your rail trails have hills, so I doubt I would even have made eight miles. Quote
grawk Posted June 12, 2014 Report Posted June 12, 2014 and we did it in the wrong direction, downhill first, then up to end. Dumb My 15 yr old daughter kept having to slow down to wait for me. That's NEVER happened before. 1 Quote
Pars Posted June 12, 2014 Report Posted June 12, 2014 Man. you're getting old Dan. Maybe even fat and slow like me And you always ride into the wind outbound, or pay the price later. Sub downhill/uphill for wind as may be. Quote
CD44hi Posted June 12, 2014 Report Posted June 12, 2014 Nah, Dan was translating my previous post: "sandbagging" Quote
Mister X Posted June 12, 2014 Report Posted June 12, 2014 My 15 yr old daughter kept having to slow down to wait for me. That's NEVER happened before. Sounds like a good reason to do it again tomorrow. 1 Quote
Nebby Posted June 12, 2014 Report Posted June 12, 2014 Looking like this rain might put a dent in our mtb plans. Sent from my nerd phone using Tapatalk Yeah, and it's doubtful it'll dry up in time. Road ride instead? Quote
grawk Posted June 12, 2014 Report Posted June 12, 2014 I'm really only in for a trail ride right now. You guys have fun tho. Quote
MexicanDragon Posted June 12, 2014 Report Posted June 12, 2014 I still say Colin should get a CF MTB for a road ride. **BRENT** Quote
VPI Posted June 12, 2014 Report Posted June 12, 2014 I am holding out for MTB on Saturday. If not then I guess it is just the boring road ride on Sunday. Quote
Dreadhead Posted June 12, 2014 Report Posted June 12, 2014 Going to be riding at the lake this weekend. Sorry to miss Colin but hopefully we can set something else up soon. Team HC ride in Sept? Quote
CD44hi Posted June 12, 2014 Report Posted June 12, 2014 this is from the MOREmtb forum: (and this was before last night's rain....) 1 Day Ago jmcgonigle jmcgonigle is offline MORE Member Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: Germantown, MD Posts: 937 2014-06-10 Schaeffer Muddy, probably too muddy to ride. We did the white loop with the SMOREs. I can't imagine that the yellow loop could be any better. Mud in lots of places even where it isn't. Trails are a mess. VPI Posted June 12, 2014 Report Posted June 12, 2014 Stupid rain. I might just stay home all weekend and watch the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Quote
VPI Posted June 13, 2014 Report Posted June 13, 2014 Maybe it will be possible to do MTB on Sunday and road bike on Saturday. Not sure if the trails might dry with the sunny Saturday that is projected or now. Quote
CD44hi Posted June 13, 2014 Report Posted June 13, 2014 I can join in for road on Saturday morning. For Sunday, unfortunately I can't stray away for more than 2 hrs so MTB is out for me. Quote
VPI Posted June 13, 2014 Report Posted June 13, 2014 So you don't want to come down to Silver Spring for a road ride on Saturday Dan. It is really not a difficult ride and we take it pretty leisurely. Who would be up for a Rock Creek Park ride Saturday 9:30-10:00ish? Quote
grawk Posted June 13, 2014 Report Posted June 13, 2014 lemme ride for a few more weeks before I join in as group anchor... Quote
VPI Posted June 13, 2014 Report Posted June 13, 2014 Colin will be the anchor. He will be on my R5 with flat pedals. Quote
Nebby Posted June 13, 2014 Report Posted June 13, 2014 Assuming my mtb ride gets rained out I can make it to the Sat ride Quote
VPI Posted June 13, 2014 Report Posted June 13, 2014 Raining pretty hard here at the moment. I know the Fountainhead MTB ribbon cutting / MORE picnic has already announced trails there are closed this weekend. Quote
CD44hi Posted June 13, 2014 Report Posted June 13, 2014 Yeah, ground is pretty soaked. I saw a few trees down around the parkway this AM. ..... Quote
Nebby Posted June 13, 2014 Report Posted June 13, 2014 It was a trail over in Delaware, which is why I wasn't sure, but it's confirmed that it's cancelled. When and where is everyone meeting tomorrow? Quote
CD44hi Posted June 13, 2014 Report Posted June 13, 2014 4425 Garrett Park Rd Silver Spring, MD 20906 I don't know what time Jeff and Colin are showing up. ..... Quote
