MexicanDragon Posted June 8, 2014 Report Posted June 8, 2014 (edited) Time for a carbon hardtail, Jeff. **BRENT** Edited June 8, 2014 by MexicanDragon
Dreadhead Posted June 8, 2014 Report Posted June 8, 2014 (edited) Went for a fairly leisurely 58 miles today as part of the Armed Forces Cycling Challenge. http://app.strava.com/activities/151050952 Was acting as a domestique/rabbit for a friend of mine for the majority of it other than the last lap. One of these years I'm going to ride this for myself and stick with one of the peletons so I can actually get a gold metal rather than silver. Edited June 8, 2014 by Dreadhead 1
n_maher Posted June 8, 2014 Report Posted June 8, 2014 Jealous! I'm just hoping to skip out for a short ride this afternoon before I pack and get on a plane to head for rainy VA tomorrow.
boomana Posted June 8, 2014 Author Report Posted June 8, 2014 Nice overcast ride this morning. Did a couple bridge repeats. Egad. That wasn't pretty.
MexicanDragon Posted June 8, 2014 Report Posted June 8, 2014 When are you going to come to Chattanooga and ride? The flat roads are worse than the bridges. You'll <3 the pain! Bring Raffy, he can pull you up the hills. **BRENT**
VPI Posted June 9, 2014 Report Posted June 9, 2014 Any of the local guys know the best place to rent a MTB for Colin? Big Wheel Bikes seems to be about the best I have found.
CD44hi Posted June 9, 2014 Report Posted June 9, 2014 Sorry Jeff no help, i've never rented a bike in this area. .....
Dreadhead Posted June 9, 2014 Report Posted June 9, 2014 (edited) Same here though I think a video of Colin riding a Capital Bikeshare bike on a trail would be epic Edited June 9, 2014 by Dreadhead 1
Dreadhead Posted June 9, 2014 Report Posted June 9, 2014 I can't help with a mountain bike but a road bike I can probably lend depending on size.
VPI Posted June 10, 2014 Report Posted June 10, 2014 Road should be easy but I think Colin is trying to decide between a full suspension or a carbon fiber HT from Big Wheel for the Saturday MTB ride.
justin Posted June 10, 2014 Report Posted June 10, 2014 If i come ill bring medium tallboy Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
VPI Posted June 10, 2014 Report Posted June 10, 2014 We are talking about doing an early Rock Creek Park road bike ride on Sunday as well. 1
Nebby Posted June 10, 2014 Report Posted June 10, 2014 I'm busy Saturday but if the Sunday road ride happens I should be able to make that
VPI Posted June 11, 2014 Report Posted June 11, 2014 At this point I think it is happening, but that depends on how we are after the MTB excursion I guess. Got to try out the lights tonight. Brighter than I had expected and after a short ride the lights are able to stay lit up for a good ten minutes which will be helpful at stop lights and signs. The install turned out nicely outside of brake cables getting in the way of some of the beam.
agile_one Posted June 11, 2014 Report Posted June 11, 2014 All this fuss about lights. Seriously? What happened to good, old fashioned night vision specs? The green glow .. the tracer tracks ... the time delay .. 1
Voltron Posted June 11, 2014 Report Posted June 11, 2014 Black ops ninja letting slip. Must have been drinking without posting!
VPI Posted June 11, 2014 Report Posted June 11, 2014 I already have two sets of NV, I had no dynamos and I only like stuff that is shiny and new.
Nebby Posted June 11, 2014 Report Posted June 11, 2014 Civil War Century registration is open and this year's 102mi ride supposedly has about 10,816 feet of climbing due to some rerouting this year.
Dreadhead Posted June 11, 2014 Report Posted June 11, 2014 I may be interested. I really need to start riding more and eating/drinking less.....
CD44hi Posted June 11, 2014 Report Posted June 11, 2014 I did 30 miles of the century ride last year. I am hoping to do better this year It was a last minute thing last year as i got a call from a friend that his wife was not going the day before. I took the steel Serotta with a compact crankset and 12-25 in the back. I was really hurting for a 28 in the back. Ha ha This year i will stack the deck a bit as I am taking a CF bike with compact/12-30... The climbing takes place within through initial 70 miles. This year the route is a bit different because of some road work. No Antietam. Having said that i don't think i will be able to keep pace with you guys. .....

I'm bringing a compact/11-32 for the Diabolical Double, so you're not going to hear anything from me regarding your compact setup
CD44hi Posted June 11, 2014 Report Posted June 11, 2014 I am aiming for twice as high; minimum!! .....
grawk Posted June 11, 2014 Report Posted June 11, 2014 every year I lose more than I gain it seems. I just went for a bike ride on a rail trail on the salsa, and 8 miles wore me out.
VPI Posted June 12, 2014 Report Posted June 12, 2014 Looking like this rain might put a dent in our mtb plans. Sent from my nerd phone using Tapatalk
