Dreadhead Posted April 6, 2014 Report Posted April 6, 2014 Ben and I had a great ride in the Arlington hills. It was a good time http://app.strava.com/activities/127684559 So weird how all of get different elevations and lengths. Oh well.
Nebby Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 It was fun riding around town! Thanks for inviting me over Chris. 1
n_maher Posted April 8, 2014 Report Posted April 8, 2014 I kicked off the commuting season this morning. It was a balmy 29 when I left the house a little after 6am but felt great to be back out on the bike. 1
Dreadhead Posted April 9, 2014 Report Posted April 9, 2014 Picked up my Calfee from the store today after they installed the new fork. Calfee did an absolutely great job and it matches the finish exactly. One less thing to worry about in the long term. I'm looking forward to riding it on the weekend. I was supposed to make it out riding from work today and it actually looks like work would have co-operated but I worked yesterday evenging and forgot to get everything ready so no biking for me other than on my DeskCycle
cetoole Posted April 14, 2014 Report Posted April 14, 2014 Does anyone have any fairly inexpensive saddles that they like? I have been riding on 130mm ones and my sit bones measure about 130mm, which seems to indicate that I should be looking at a minimum of 143mm based on the Specialized guide I have seen. Of course, much of the discomfort is probably the fact that I never ride regularly, but I will take any improvement I can.
Mister X Posted April 14, 2014 Report Posted April 14, 2014 I have a lightly used Selle Q-bik flow in the closet you can audition if you want to pay the postage. 2 problems with it though, it's width is spec'd at 140mm and it's pretty hard. Maybe something like the WTB pure v would be a better choice?
grawk Posted April 14, 2014 Report Posted April 14, 2014 My favorite saddle so far is still the selle turbo, tho I like my selle anatomica titanico a lot, too.
raffy Posted April 14, 2014 Report Posted April 14, 2014 Colin, I have a 143mm Specialized Toupe I can lend to you as I haven't used it in 1.5 years.
cetoole Posted April 16, 2014 Report Posted April 16, 2014 Thanks for the loan offers, if I actually rode enough to be able to compare stuff, that would be awesome, but I don't, and am unlikely to. The specialized romin/toupe seem to be about the top of the list. I might pick up a Romin Evo locally from someone selling a take-off.
Mister X Posted April 16, 2014 Report Posted April 16, 2014 I was going to say they have the Romin comp gel at the Specialized outlet for $50 but it sez coming soon when you click to select the color and size. They do have the Romin expert available for $70 though. In white... http://www.specialized.com/us/en/ftb/saddles/equipsaddlesspecials
VPI Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 Weather looks pretty great this weekend I might actually have to see if I remember how to ride a bike. 1
MexicanDragon Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 Riding is silly. You should ship all your bikes to the ginger. **BRENT**
n_maher Posted April 18, 2014 Report Posted April 18, 2014 The Rules, Revisited Excellent. And damnit, I was supposed to send you a crank.
grawk Posted April 18, 2014 Report Posted April 18, 2014 np, haven't been on the bike since then, and am taking the mtb out this weekend I think
Nebby Posted April 19, 2014 Report Posted April 19, 2014 Trainerroad + music/movies/netflix = tolerable trainer rides
raffy Posted April 19, 2014 Report Posted April 19, 2014 That's how I do it too. Today was Sufferfest ISLAGIATT.
VPI Posted April 19, 2014 Report Posted April 19, 2014 Any of the locals doing a ride tomorrow? Trying to convince myself to go out.
Nebby Posted April 19, 2014 Report Posted April 19, 2014 Going on a MTB ride tomorrow, you're probably not interested in that...
n_maher Posted April 19, 2014 Report Posted April 19, 2014 I spent an hour and a half working with my LBS on the fit on the Calfee. It actually wasn't far off from where I think it'll end up but we ran out of time to try different saddles, that'll happen this week and then it'll time be to start riding it. 2
