grawk Posted October 22, 2013 Report Posted October 22, 2013 yah, that's apparently the difference between the 50 and 65 Quote
Dreadhead Posted October 22, 2013 Report Posted October 22, 2013 I'm going to be using my mtb that's for sure. Full suspension with rear wheel locked out is what it is going to be. I have a friend who did it and I can ask him. Quote
n_maher Posted October 22, 2013 Report Posted October 22, 2013 That might make for a pretty miserable and incomplete day, Dan. What's the widest tire your nishiki can run? If it's less than a 28 I'd imagine a taco'd rim or two in your future or lots of walking. Quote
grawk Posted October 22, 2013 Report Posted October 22, 2013 oh, it's a mountain bike. I'll be running 2.6" width low pressure tires. Quote
justin Posted October 22, 2013 Report Posted October 22, 2013 So we just missed it this year but I think the DC/VA/MD crew should aim at maybe doing this event next year http://mocoepic.com/ It's even on mountain bikes and looks like fun. Yes I am aware I'm talking about a mountain bike ride if i stick with it my long term goal is to do the Shenandoah 100, but maybe a metric century is a good place to start Quote
justin Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 just got a Kinetic Rock N Roll trainer thanks to brent calling me and saying chainlove had a good deal. 2 days later, here it is in the box. havent set it up yet as weekdays i do soccer or yoga. yesterday after soccer, decided to run a 40 yard dash for time, before i'm ancient. ended up with 6.72s..damn, that's slow imagine the facepalm when i realized i accidentally ran 60 yards. went back and did it again, got 4.81 (hand timed). want to try it fresh and go for a 4.5 Quote
MexicanDragon Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 One of these days, you'll learn not to answer the phone. Good luck on that "not being old" thing. It sneaks up on you quickly. **BRENT** Quote
raffy Posted October 25, 2013 Report Posted October 25, 2013 Did a Sufferfest video today (Fight Club) instead of riding outside. It wasn't as bad as I remember riding a training earlier in the year but it's still nowhere close to riding on the road. These videos used to be unbearably difficult but today I was able to complete the whole video without thinking about tapping out at any point. I was also able to hit a much higher heart rate without giving up - I guess that's progress??? Quote
raffy Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 Wow I underestimated that Sufferfest video. I rode my usual hilly ride today and my legs felt like lead from the get go. Had to cut down the usual 44 miles to 36 which was smart. I could have used a couple of domestiques today with the wind. Where's Mike and JP when I need them? Quote
raffy Posted October 26, 2013 Report Posted October 26, 2013 You guys are plenty good. I would've wheel sucked Betty White today if I had to. Quote
raffy Posted October 27, 2013 Report Posted October 27, 2013 Looks great guys! Jeff, you look awesome! Way to go on the weight loss. This was my morning ride today. It's scary, I'm starting to not hate riding indoors. Quote
tyrion Posted October 27, 2013 Report Posted October 27, 2013 Nice pic guys. Jeff, awesome job on the weight loss! Quote
CD44hi Posted October 27, 2013 Report Posted October 27, 2013 Great pics guys, I am sorry I missed this! Jeff, you look great man! Quote
jp11801 Posted October 27, 2013 Report Posted October 27, 2013 Jeff WOW great job! Rode a brief 25 today after being off the bike for a while, felt great but reinforced my need to take up the commute rides to keep me in riding shape. Quote
VPI Posted October 27, 2013 Report Posted October 27, 2013 All done and celebrating Biscuit Boy style. Quote
shellylh Posted October 27, 2013 Report Posted October 27, 2013 Jeff, you look amazing! Keep up the good work. Quote
MexicanDragon Posted October 27, 2013 Report Posted October 27, 2013 Jeff, you are looking healthy, but just for the biscuit taunting, I'm going to beat you in FF today. Jealous of the ride... I need a trainer so I can ride without leaving the kids alone. I miss it. **BRENT** Quote
n_maher Posted October 27, 2013 Report Posted October 27, 2013 Holy shit, Jeff! The kids had me up way too early this morning so I doubt I'll get a ride in today. Quote
VPI Posted October 27, 2013 Report Posted October 27, 2013 Thanks everyone, I have to give a lot of credit to Chris for basically pushing me all year on these rides. Definitely feel a lot better but I still have 40ish to go before I feel I am close to being healthy. Today's ride was great but the fit on my Calfee is not where I want it yet. Need another touch up. Thanks Chris for inviting us out again and leading us around. 1 Quote
