VPI Posted October 5, 2013 Report Posted October 5, 2013 Yeah I am going to ride somewhere for sure. Did a nice loop today but it was pretty bad with traffic so not great for a small group.
Dreadhead Posted October 5, 2013 Report Posted October 5, 2013 What time? I am off the hook all morning but would like to be home by 11:30 so finish up the loop around 1015 or 1030. I was thinking a long ride on the trail anyway so that works out.
Nebby Posted October 5, 2013 Report Posted October 5, 2013 I'm up for a ride tomorrow, when should I show up?
CD44hi Posted October 5, 2013 Report Posted October 5, 2013 Did the Beach Dr loop. Actually contrary to my expectation, it is completely closed to traffic once you hit DC. -All picnic and *parking* areas are closed. Bikes and pedestrians are OK, or at least all the police around (a lot of them actually) didn't say anything to anyone biking around... -Ross and all the other surrounding roads are also closed to traffic, which makes a surreal ride, tons of leaves on the road.

I'm up for a ride tomorrow, when should I show up? If you want you can either park at the trail or come here and we can ride over. Kind of busy roads but not awful.
Dreadhead Posted October 5, 2013 Report Posted October 5, 2013 Jeff what time do you want to meet? I will just do what miles I can before hand as I am not feeling great right now and may be getting a slight cold.
VPI Posted October 5, 2013 Report Posted October 5, 2013 I am open to any time. Ben has a longer trip to get here so it probably won't be real early.
Dreadhead Posted October 5, 2013 Report Posted October 5, 2013 9 am work to meet at the usual spot? We can then roll out for a bit and turn around to get me back on time or we can do a climbing loop if we prefer.
VPI Posted October 5, 2013 Report Posted October 5, 2013 9 works for me. Hopefully Ben pops in and confirms he can make it down here by then. We would need to leave my house by 8:45 to get to the meeting spot.
Nebby Posted October 5, 2013 Report Posted October 5, 2013 Yeah, I'll aim to get there by 8:30. Should give enough time to get ready and go.
n_maher Posted October 6, 2013 Report Posted October 6, 2013 Have a great ride guys. It's rainy and crappy here today so no riding for me.
grawk Posted October 6, 2013 Report Posted October 6, 2013 go Ben! I like how Jeff gave himself a handicap (not the gloves)
grawk Posted October 6, 2013 Report Posted October 6, 2013 ok, obviously the bike makes all the difference, I'm convinced now: http://www.rtbf.be/video/embed?id=1858008&autoplay=1 1

VPI Posted October 6, 2013 Report Posted October 6, 2013 Had a great casual ride with Team HC DC this morning. Awesome as usual, except for all the other people. There was a massive douchebag on rollerblades with ski poles trying to stab everyone on the trail and freakin horses dropping loads on the trail. My gloves came in handy. 2
shellylh Posted October 6, 2013 Report Posted October 6, 2013 I have an old Trek 8000 race/tn bike that i use mostly at home on a trainer. The problem is that it is too small for me. I was thinking that I could get a longer seatpost (and one that is setback) - like 400mm - until I get another bike*. Can you point me at some decent budget seatposts? I looked about Thompson Elite but I don't need or want to spend that much on something that won't be used for very long. *I can't ride a bike still because of my shoulder so buying a new bike right now really isn't an option.

shellylh Posted October 6, 2013 Report Posted October 6, 2013 (edited) how about a longer stem? is the problem distance to pedals or to the bars? Distance to the pedals is too short. Right now, I'm not even holding onto the handlebars much because of my shoulder. Also I have long legs and a short torso for my height. Edited October 6, 2013 by shellylh
grawk Posted October 6, 2013 Report Posted October 6, 2013 http://houston.craigslist.org/bik/4062686503.html Depends on post diameter tho
