tyrion Posted September 1, 2013 Report Posted September 1, 2013 Awesome Vicki. Even if I didn't come up with a lame excuse, Gail's Birthday, I could not have done 100 miles in 2 days.
Torpedo Posted September 1, 2013 Report Posted September 1, 2013 Congrats, Vicki. Your epic ride sounds like a fun and worth adventure.
Voltron Posted September 1, 2013 Report Posted September 1, 2013 amazing, Vicki, congrats! This again!!
VPI Posted September 1, 2013 Report Posted September 1, 2013 Sounds like some fun. Big achievement. Too bad about the hills and getting dropped, riding for 45 miles by myself would have been terribly boring for me.
jp11801 Posted September 1, 2013 Report Posted September 1, 2013 Vicki, congrats on the century really wish I could have been there with you!!
Pars Posted September 1, 2013 Report Posted September 1, 2013 Way to go Vicki! So happy the new bike is working out for you! Congrats!
boomana Posted September 1, 2013 Author Report Posted September 1, 2013 Thanks, guys! Sounds like some fun. Big achievement. Too bad about the hills and getting dropped, riding for 45 miles by myself would have been terribly boring for me. It wasn't boring (I like boring); it was hard. Between the hills, the wind in the flat sections, and the heat, I really would have loved to tuck in with a group and get carried a bit. Waiting for the thunderstorm to stop, so I can go eat. Maybe it will be cooler tomorrow because of it. Oh... and Mike, stop all the rucking around and get back on your bike, at least a little bit. December should be fun, but not if you haven't been riding at all. 1
jp11801 Posted September 1, 2013 Report Posted September 1, 2013 I'm going to try 40 tomorrow after a two week lay off due to knee injury, did 15 miles today and the knee held up well. I plan to take it easy and just enjoy the ride.
Dreadhead Posted September 1, 2013 Report Posted September 1, 2013 (edited) Congrats Vicki! That's awesome! Me: Been riding with my father in law who only started riding a few months ago and he's been pushing me really hard. Lots of fun. Just uploaded to strava and set KOM and moved up a lot of leader boards. Feels good. 2 more days of riding. Huge thanks to Jeff for loaning us the Calfee for him to ride. VPI Posted September 2, 2013 Report Posted September 2, 2013 Dammit, I liked 7th place. Now I need to go back to jump over that John Fox dude to get back my rightful 7th.
VPI Posted September 2, 2013 Report Posted September 2, 2013 If that is his best I think I can take his spot. I have to imagine I will pick up some speed by using the little ring for the climbs.
Dreadhead Posted September 2, 2013 Report Posted September 2, 2013 (edited) Not near his best I'm sorry to say. I am not sure of the relative now but a few months ago he was faster than me by a good margin. He's a good guy though. He and his wife are cool. They were visiting me for that ride. VPI Posted September 2, 2013 Report Posted September 2, 2013 I am going to take both of their spots, even if I have to buy my own house down there for training. 2
grawk Posted September 2, 2013 Report Posted September 2, 2013 heh, at those prices, no reason not to.
Dreadhead Posted September 2, 2013 Report Posted September 2, 2013 You are more than welcome to train with me any time we are down there. You can borrow the house if we aren't.
VPI Posted September 2, 2013 Report Posted September 2, 2013 Yeah, I think I have a long ways to go in simply getting in shape before I starting chasing records. 1
grawk Posted September 2, 2013 Report Posted September 2, 2013 Jeff and I are riding tomorrow at 10, if anyone wants to meet up. Either W&OD or Mt Vernon 2
Dreadhead Posted September 2, 2013 Report Posted September 2, 2013 Have a great ride guys.I hope to ride too. If I don't get going in the morning then the afternoon.
boomana Posted September 2, 2013 Author Report Posted September 2, 2013 Have fun. Did 62 miles today, but managed to stay with a group the whole time, which was much nicer. Since everyone was tired from yesterday, they went at a pace I could handle. Total for the weekend: 231 miles. Glad I accomplished what I wanted to do, but I don't think I'll be doing this again any day soon. I'm tired. 1
Pars Posted September 2, 2013 Report Posted September 2, 2013 That is a lot of miles VIcki! I haven't even been out for my little 6 mile cruise around our MUP this weekend
