pigmode Posted August 24, 2013 Report Posted August 24, 2013 Do you have a ballpark timeframe for your Kirk yet? It *would* have been near the beginning of 2014 year, but discussing with Dave its been pushed back to about Fall 2015 more or less. I'm currently seeing a Sports Physical Therapist for the bulged disc in my lower back, and will be off the road bike till at least Jan. or maybe a year or longer, the latter which is his assessment. Anyway the new time table hopefully allows enough time to decide on a new fit, if needed. I'm thinking a hill climb bike with wider tires and discs would be pretty cool.
boomana Posted August 24, 2013 Author Report Posted August 24, 2013 Wow. Gotta say that sucks. I hope physical therapy works for you. Did 60 miles with the Selle Anatomica right out of the box. Perfect. I'm now on my way to visit my baby after receiving this text ten minutes ago. 2
raffy Posted August 24, 2013 Report Posted August 24, 2013 Very cool Vicki! You going with a compact or standard?
MexicanDragon Posted August 24, 2013 Report Posted August 24, 2013 Vicki can't post this one yet, but didn't want you guys to have to wait. It's smokin' hot! **BRENT** 1
boomana Posted August 24, 2013 Author Report Posted August 24, 2013 Thanks Brent! It's true what they say: pics don't do it justice. Joe Bell's paint job is amazing. I can't stop smiling. It's better than I planned. Raffy, I'm going with a mid compact. My physical therapist wanted me to have a triple, but that's not happening. 52/36. I think. 1
raffy Posted August 24, 2013 Report Posted August 24, 2013 Wow that looks even better built up. Jealous of the mid compact, I'm considering that for my next bike. I'd like to try the DA shifters to see how they feel when I see you this weekend
MexicanDragon Posted August 24, 2013 Report Posted August 24, 2013 I do like white bikes, and that is hot. I think the Enves really help the frame pop off the bike.**BRENT**
Torpedo Posted August 24, 2013 Report Posted August 24, 2013 What a beauty! Congrats Vicky, I wish you can make over 10,000 miles on that bike and still be happy with it
boomana Posted August 24, 2013 Author Report Posted August 24, 2013 What a beauty! Congrats Vicky, I wish you can make over 10,000 miles on that bike and still be happy with it I'm sure I'll be happy with the bike. I'd be thrilled to be able to ride over 10,000 miles
parris Posted August 25, 2013 Report Posted August 25, 2013 That is really cool! Your choice with the mid compact is something that I've been giving a lot of thought to and it seems to fill a good spot that a lot of people have been looking for. One of the things I really liked that Dave does is to leave a lot of steerer tube for bar height adjustment. I've left mine slightly long and swap spacers if my back is giving me trouble.
MexicanDragon Posted August 25, 2013 Report Posted August 25, 2013 I think leave the excess steerer tube there and put a drink or something in it. Maybe a green-smoothie holder for post-ride festivities? **BRENT**
guzziguy Posted August 25, 2013 Report Posted August 25, 2013 What everybody else is saying. Your Kirk looks better with each new picture. Can't wait to see the final one with it completed.
boomana Posted August 25, 2013 Author Report Posted August 25, 2013 Got in a short 20 miles on the Gunnar with the SMP saddle. I still like it a lot, though need to get in a 50-miler + to be sure. The Selle Anatomica was just fine out of the box doing a bit over 60 miles, and this SMP could be as well. Now seems like I have a couple options for bum. Nice.
Mister X Posted August 25, 2013 Report Posted August 25, 2013 Switched from the Selle SMP hybrid to a cheapo, Selle Italia Q-bik Flow and did 30 miles yesterday. No more rubbing problems but there is a spot on the right side (where the rails "attach") that poked me wrong with my old, worn out Endura shorts. About to find out if I have the same results with the Pearl Izumi Attack Shorts or....
MexicanDragon Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 Need an inexpensive carbon road bike? http://www.neuvationcycling.com/product/neuvation-fc100-carbon-shim-105-1694.htm 995$ for a Neuvation FC100 with Shimano 105. Dreadhead can vouch for the company, as he's had at least one of their bikes, I believe. The 51 is sold out, but plenty of other sizes. **BRENT**
Dreadhead Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 (edited) I used to race on the FC100 for crits and when I didn't feel like risking my Giant. It's a fabulous bike for the money. Thinking about picking one up to ship home.... Edited August 26, 2013 by Dreadhead 1
Dreadhead Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 I wish I had the option for SRAM Apex but so be it. That is retarded cheap.
MexicanDragon Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 I don't see ANYTHING on their site with Apex. Apex was HUGE in 2012, but hardly saw it on anything in 2013, stock, at least. **BRENT**
deepak Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 Vicki it is a beautiful bike, I am one of those cold soulless carbon fellows and I think that bike is a real looker. Congrats on owning her.

Dreadhead Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 It's noon, Vicki is on vacation but I don't see any bike pics. Something is wrong Unrelated note: I downloaded an app to my android phone that will let my wife live-track my rides. She's still not happy about me riding on roads by myself but I think it will help.
