Tyll Hertsens Posted October 25, 2012 Report Posted October 25, 2012 (edited) Just been auditioning the Asus Xonar Essence One, and they sent me some of these Muses 8820 op-amps to replace the stock 5532s. My, this amp/DAC sounds pretty damn good for $599, and with the Muses ($899 is the price with these installed) it sounds very nice. Articulate, punchy, smooove! I likey. Anyone used these parts? Tyll Hertsens Posted October 25, 2012 Author Report Posted October 25, 2012 (edited) Woops, my bad. They're the Muses 01 not the 8820. But I'm still interested if anyone has tried either. And correct linky for the Muses 01. Edited October 25, 2012 by Tyll Hertsens
Nebby Posted October 26, 2012 Report Posted October 26, 2012 http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/MUSES01/MUSES01-ND/2202385?cur=USD $50 a pop for those opamps Interesting, the Essence One supports simultaneous output on the headphone and speaker. That'd be nice along with the actual volume knobs. Might have to give the non Muses version a look over
crappyjones123 Posted October 26, 2012 Report Posted October 26, 2012 High praise for something I didn't expect to be all that great. Is it worth the cost tyll?
Tyll Hertsens Posted October 26, 2012 Author Report Posted October 26, 2012 (edited) I think so. The price is right; lots of features. Socketed 8-pin DIPs to roll op-amps. Seems like very good value to me. Edited October 26, 2012 by Tyll Hertsens
