jp11801 Posted July 17, 2012 Report Posted July 17, 2012 I knew he had been sick for a while, very sad to hear of his passing
Absorbine_Sr Posted July 17, 2012 Report Posted July 17, 2012 RIP. Listening to Made In Japan right now and fuck it sounds good. Lord's playing on Child In Time is so good.
Dusty Chalk Posted July 17, 2012 Report Posted July 17, 2012 Seriously. You wouldn't know it from listening to my music, but he was an enormous influence on my early playing. Tracks like "Child in Time", "Lazy" where he went crazy on the drawbars, and "April" is one of my favourite rock-meets-classical pieces ever. Gonna go play "Before I Forget" in memorium.
ecclesand Posted July 17, 2012 Report Posted July 17, 2012 I saw Deep Purple in 1985 in Mannheim Germany when I was in the Army. What a great show. RIP Jon Lord.
