Voltron Posted September 4, 2012 Report Posted September 4, 2012 I also forgot that I really want to go to the OMA listening room in the DUMBO. Who's up for it? Are you going to contact Jonathan, JP?
The Monkey Posted September 4, 2012 Report Posted September 4, 2012 Great news Jeff and Dinny. I think that beer, fried foods, and whisk(e)y are great for [forgetting you have] pneumonia. No pneumonia! Antibiotics and steroids should have me good to go!
VPI Posted September 4, 2012 Report Posted September 4, 2012 Not sure if anyone is interested but Niner is having a demo day out in Morristown on Saturday. They should have all the bikes out for play.
boomana Posted September 4, 2012 Report Posted September 4, 2012 I'm weirdly not jealous, but excited for all riders and support crew. Al, you need to recruit that Ambrewlance as a SAG van. Make some calls!
raffy Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 Fuck, I did a test run to fit my bike in the Thule case and it looks like I can't fit it in because of the very short shifter cables. I'm able to take everything apart but I can't position the separated handlebars in such a way that I can make it fit. Fuck me!
jp11801 Posted September 5, 2012 Author Report Posted September 5, 2012 shit can you take it to the bike shop and have them take a look at it? Redoing cables is not very expensive at least not the guy I use locally so are we in for the 55 mile option with a medium paced 20-30 mile warm up Saturday? In perfect world Saturday late morning ( I have to pick my bike up) ride 20-30 clean up and head over to OMA for a listening session (hook up with the rest of the NYC crew) late lunch in W-burg at Muggs or DBGB's or Bling Tiger .... wander around sampling beer and sight (update locations for straggler NYC crew) pick a spot for dinner (Do or Dine was great last time) pass out in anticipation of ride Sunday Ride 55 miles while Al reads the NY Times Sunday Edition, sips Lattes and plots his revenge on the fruit that from here on out shall never be mentioned Party with 6000 sweaty NYC TA bike riders in Central Park head back for much needed shower in Brooklyn and hook back up with Al and remaining NYC crew spend rest of day embellishing on the ride and telling Mike he is still the fastest consume beer and eat great food ....
raffy Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 I might just have to do that JP. 2nd option is to go to the Trek store and try their size 50. If I can fit into that then I'll just rent one. Judging from the geometry charts, it is about 1/2 size too big but we'll see. I'm pretty pissed right now there's a chance I won't have a ride Sunday. Fucking bummer
tyrion Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 raffy, you can't turn your handlebars sideways after detaching from the stem? Jp, I will always be the fastest!
n_maher Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 Raffy, Maybe it's worth disconnecting one of the cables if that's doable and just finding someone to hook it back up when you get to NYC? I'd go for the front derailleur so that if it doens't get perfectly adjusted getting hooked back up it's less annoying than the rear.
raffy Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 I wish I could do so Nate but it's either I'll have to disconnect 3 cables - Rear Brake, rear derailleur, front derailleur then fish them out the internal tunnel (which I have no idea how to do) or unwrap my bars and disconnect all the cables from both levers. That might be the better option but would mean re-taping in NYC then back in Florida. I think I'll gonna have a recable today with enough slack to position the handlebar inside the case. If the long cables make a lot of smacking/rubbing noises (which is why I had my stock cables shortened in the first place), I'll just have to have them shortened again when I get back. It can be fun being short at times
raffy Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 (edited) OMG finally got my bike to fit, I just had to remove the front brake caliper. What a relief! Edited September 5, 2012 by raffy
Voltron Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 What a hassle. Better have a beer to celebrate, Raffy. In perfect world Saturday late morning ( I have to pick my bike up) ride 20-30 clean up and head over to OMA for a listening session (hook up with the rest of the NYC crew) late lunch in W-burg at Muggs or DBGB's or Bling Tiger .... wander around sampling beer and sight (update locations for straggler NYC crew) pick a spot for dinner (Do or Dine was great last time) pass out in anticipation of ride You guys really need to ride on Saturday too? JP's "perfect world" scenario for Saturday doesn't add up given that you are all going to want to crash by 8 or 9 pm Saturday night. I can't really see OMA >> lunch >> beer wandering >> dinner happening after a late morning ride between 2pm (optimistically) and 8pm. I'm not sure if OMA is possible on Sunday, which is another option we might look into.
raffy Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 9pm lights out is too early anyway, I'm sure we can stretch it out!
tyrion Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 Maybe we can get Jp back and forth faster and earlier so it's not a late morning ride. I'm thinking 10 pm lights out.
raffy Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 I'm thinking 10 pm PST lights out. FTFY
Voltron Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 Speaking of old ladies, JP said 8pm.
raffy Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 I'm old and need my rest. Mike, you can't be old and be the fastest at the same time you know.......
tyrion Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 Mike, you can't be old and be the fastest at the same time you know....... I can if I get enough rest Saturday night. Speaking of old ladies, JP said 8pm. He only said that for me as he knows how old and feeble I have become. And yes, raffy, despite my feebleness, I am still the fastest.
jp11801 Posted September 5, 2012 Author Report Posted September 5, 2012 Al you need some cycling in your life
cetoole Posted September 6, 2012 Report Posted September 6, 2012 I think Mike just volunteered to carry my tow rope.
tyrion Posted September 6, 2012 Report Posted September 6, 2012 I think Mike just volunteered to carry my tow rope. Somehow I think you will be the fastest so anytime you want to throw that tow rope to us old guys behind you, go for it. Bike is packed. It was a tight fit. I hope i didn't forget something.
nikongod Posted September 7, 2012 Report Posted September 7, 2012 Someone please be sure to get in touch with me regarding your non-cycling plans on Saturday. I cant wait to see yall again.
